Before Intel’s Arc series graphics card was launched, many players were looking forward to it. They originally thought that the performance should be comparable to AMD and NVIDIA at the same level, but some data tests showed that it did not seem to be as good as imagined. Now it seems that the hardware does have that performance, mainly due to tuning and driver issues. Recently, a well-known foreign overclocking YouTuber briefly adjusted the Arc A380 graphics card, and the performance was immediately greatly improved to another level.

Recently, a Russian overclocking professional YouTuber shared the overclocking performance of Arc A380. Currently, overclocking software does not support it. Therefore, Pro Hi-Tech did not change the core clock of the graphics card. Instead, it used Intel’s own display software to adjust the power target and voltage offset. In the GPU performance improvement part, it was set to 55% and the voltage offset was +0.255mv.

After the modification, the core of Intel Arc A380 is increased by 100 to 150MHz, which is about 4%~6% increase, and the power usage is increased from 35W to 50~55W, which means an increase of 43%~57%.

Pro Hi-Tech tested a total of six games, namely “Watch Dogs: Free Legion”, “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Doom: Eternal”, “God of War”, “Rainbow Six: Siege” and “World of Tanks”, comparing the A380, the overclocked A380 and the competitor GTX 1650. All Arc graphics card tests have the ReBAR function enabled.

After Arc A380 overclocking, every game has received a considerable improvement. “Watch Dogs: Free Legion” and “World of Tanks” have about 25%, and “Doom: Eternal” has reached 60%. Overall, the increase is about 37%. It is rare to see such a large performance improvement after overclocking a graphics card:

After overclocking, the A380 has caught up with the GTX 1650 in most games. Judging from these results, many people may think that the A380 seems to have a lot of overclocking room. In fact, it is a bit strange. Intel officially announced that the TDP of the Arc A380 is 75W, while Pro Hi-Tech measured only 35W before overclocking, which is far lower than 75W. Even after overclocking, it only reaches 55W, which is far from 75W. There is still some distance to go.
The representative said that Intel does not know whether it is deliberately limiting the performance of the A380 or for other reasons. After all, TDP has a certain impact on performance, and the 35W before overclocking is less than half of 75W. This has a huge impact.
In any case, as more and more actual tests appear on the market, the Intel team should be able to quickly find out the reasons for subsequent driver improvements. Even though the prices of NVIDIA and AMD have plummeted recently, and they are not as expensive and difficult to buy as before, they still hope to see Intel graphics cards that can compete with these two in performance.
