The latest data suggests that Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 5 may see more conservative hardware changes than previously expected. According to MyMobiles and @OnLeaks According to marketing materials and technical documents obtained through the collaboration, the Pixel Watch 5 will carry over several core specifications from the Pixel Watch 4, including the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, a display with up to 3000 nits of brightness, the same charging speed, and the officially rated battery life.

Full images of the Pixel Watch 5 have leaked ahead of Google’s launch event.
On the hardware side, the most obvious upgrade comes from storage, with the Pixel Watch 5 offering 64GB of capacity—double last year’s—and Google is also expected to preload Wear OS 7 at launch, paired with a slightly larger battery. As for the more talked-about Gemini chip and next-generation health features, those could become the main selling points for this year’s Pixel Watch lineup.

The document indicates that both the 41mm and 45mm models retain the Actua 360 LTPO AMOLED display, supporting a variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 60Hz with peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor also carries over, despite earlier rumors suggesting Google might adopt a newer wearable chip—ultimately, that did not come to pass. In terms of battery capacity, the 41mm version sees a slight increase from 325mAh to 332mAh, while the 45mm version goes from 455mAh up to 465mAh. However, these modest adjustments are not reflected in battery life, as Google still rates both watches at 30 hours and 40 hours respectively, identical to the previous generation.
The charging speed also remains unchanged. Both watch sizes can reach 50% in about 15 minutes. For a full charge, the smaller size takes about 45 minutes, while the larger size takes about 1 hour. Previously, the Google Play Console revealed that the Pixel Watch 5 comes with 3GB of RAM, higher than the Pixel Watch 4’s 2GB, but the latest documents have not reconfirmed this specification.

Google’s promotional emphasis is clearly focused on the software experience, especially Gemini Intelligence—a smart assistant that reportedly can proactively push important information and provide reply suggestions based on conversations on the watch, strengthening on-device AI use cases. Health and fitness features are another major highlight. According to promotional materials, the Pixel Watch 5 will offer Google’s most accurate sleep tracking to date, capable of monitoring sleep stages, respiratory rate, and generating personalized sleep scores. This data will be integrated into a morning “Insights” interface, presenting sleep status alongside the day’s weather to create a more complete health information stream.

Additionally, the loss-of-pulse detection feature has also been heavily emphasized. When the watch detects that the wearer has lost a pulse, it can automatically contact emergency services. However, this feature is not exclusive to the Pixel Watch 5; the Pixel Watch 3 had already introduced it in some markets. Satellite SOS is also expected to return, and reportedly requires no additional fee for two years after activation.

In terms of pricing, the latest report aligns with previous forecasts. The Pixel Watch 5 41mm Wi-Fi version is expected to retail at $399, with the LTE version at $499; the 45mm models may come in at $429 and $529, respectively. Google is expected to officially unveil the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, with a rumored release date of August 20. Although hardware upgrades are limited, the more mature Wear OS 7, deeper Gemini Intelligence integration, and Pixel-exclusive software experience could help the watch deliver greater performance and value within the existing hardware architecture.
