A few days ago we reported that the RTX 40 series might be delayed to ease the inventory of the RTX 30 series. However, there seems to be some different news in China, which has caused the prices of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards to plummet across the board. They are cheaper than the official pricing. Moreover, these are the prices of retailers, not the used second-hand versions. It seems that the graphics card crash storm is not over yet.
China’s NVIDIA and AMD graphics card prices plummet across the board
Recently in China’s Baidu Tieba, some netizens shared a real-time summary of the lowest prices for graphics cards across the entire network, which is updated almost every day. Today, 7/11, although some graphics cards have stabilized slightly, they have fallen to very exaggerated prices in recent days. As you can see from the picture below, except for a few newly launched graphics cards, the rest of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series and AMD Radeon RX 6000 series are now cheaper than the official list price:
The one that has fallen the most is the RTX 3090 Ti. The original price of this model in China is RMB 14,999. Recently, the lowest price can be seen on the Internet at RMB 9,499, which is almost 40% off. It is really exaggerated, but the price has come back a little bit today. The AMD RX 6400 that suffered the most decline was originally priced at RMB 1,299. Today, the lowest price can be found at RMB 894, down 31.2%.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series high-end graphics cards have basically dropped in price by about 30%. For example, today’s RTX 3090 price is -29.2% compared to the original price, and RTX 3080 Ti has also reached -29.4%. This is not the lowest price. If the lowest price is used, it is more than -30%. As for mid-to-low-end graphics cards, it may be that they are not expected to be seen until next year regardless of whether there is an extension, so the decline is not that big. For example, the RTX 3060 Ti is only -2.3%.
The AMD Radeon RX 600 series is quite average, with at least a 15% drop. High-end graphics cards basically fall by more than 20%. This is actually quite surprising. I originally thought that NVIDIA’s rise would be more fierce, and logically it should be even worse. AMD was not expected to be worse. It seems that the game bundles launched by AMD earlier did not help much.
Compared with Taiwan, for example, the RTX 3090 Ti costs 9,499 yuan, which is about NT$42,200. Currently, it is out of stock in online shopping malls in Taiwan. It costs about NT$60,000 on Shopee, which is really much cheaper:
And it seems that it’s not just China. This netizen also shared the price of the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti found on Amazon. It was discounted by 50%, making it only $650, which is about NT$19,400. At that time, there were 17 cards of this card, so there was a lot of inventory. But it seems to have been sold out now, I just couldn’t find this one:
Currently, this one still costs NT$29,990 in Taiwan, which is equivalent to a saving of more than 10,000 yuan. It is really a good deal:
Seeing that Chinese and foreign graphics cards have fallen like this, some guesses in Taiwan are about the same. Recently, several RTX 40 series have been on sale one after another. Those who have not yet bought it should really consider it if they see good and cheap prices.
