Apple Intelligence’s next wave of language support confirmed to arrive in April
As we’re about to step into 2025, for all you Apple fans out there, apart from the lifelong wishes you hope to see fulfilled Vision Pro goes on sale in TaiwanAside from that, there’s probably only the regret that Siri on the latest iPhone 16 series still hasn’t received generative AI upgrades, right?
Although users with decent foreign language skills have long been able to enable English-language Apple Intelligence & Siri support on Apple devices with A17 Pro SoC and M-series chips or higher starting from iOS 18.1, many are still looking forward to the official arrival of Chinese support.
At last year’s iPhone 16 launch event, Apple, as expected, announced that more languages, including Chinese, would be added in 2025. Today, Apple has confirmed the projected timeline for the next wave of language support in the latest iOS 18.2 update news.
This iOS 18.2 update brings more generative creativity features – including Image Playground, Genmoji, enhanced Writing Tools, the ability to quickly launch Visual Intelligence search with the camera, and ChatGPT integration that you can now get a sneak peek at in Chinese.
For the extended support of Apple Intelligence, this official iOS 18.2 release also adds support for localized English in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. It was also announced that the next batch of language support will arrive in April 2025, rolling out alongside software updates.
Although the language support for the next phase has not been explicitly stated, officials have listed the languages confirmed to launch in the coming year, including “Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and more.”
That said, although Chinese being placed at the very front might give some impression of priority, looking at the English press release page, Apple likely just arranged things in alphabetical order, which is why it ended up that way.
So basically, I personally feel you can look at the timeline of Vision Pro’s rollout across different countries and regions — that should give you a rough idea of the order in which Apple Intelligence’s language support will be rolled out. It looks like “various English variants” would be the top priority, and then it’ll probably still be European and American languages first (I guess).
All I can say is, since there’s still a whole year left in 2025, if it doesn’t launch in April, don’t be too upset about it.
Actually, I’m personally curious about this timing in April. What interesting products will be announced along with the software update? Will it be a newly designed MacBook Air or an entry-level iPad? What does everyone think?
