随着近几年各大行动系统对于隐私方面权限的收紧政策 – 不仅各种权限都要另外取得,就连 App 有没有偷偷启动麦克风或摄影机,在系统功能上都整个一目了然。 But if you put the attitude that nothing is difficult in the world with one skin, if you focus on developing applications. Obviously, if the developer deliberately does not correspond to the API of the new system, it is not actually a major violation.对此,Google Play 也准备祭出对应的政策来「协助」这些不愿对应新系统的过时应用,会为了推广应用而愿意乖乖对应新的系统。 Continue reading Whether it is deliberately circumvented or not, outdated apps will no longer be recommended in Google Play searches and will not provide new installations.

Whether intentionally circumvented or not, outdated apps will not be recommended in Google Play searches and will not be available for new installation.

Looking at the Apple App Store next door, it may be because users are relatively willing to accept the new system, so the policies against outdated applications that do not support the new system are relatively tough. However, see the Google Play Store app store for Android systems. The situation they are facing may be due to the fragmentation of the system to some extent, but it is still relatively difficult after all.

However, this problem should improve from November 2022. Because Google will add an exclusion mechanism for apps that are still unwilling to cope with newer systems for more than 2 years. Before this deadline, developers can update as soon as possible to avoid problems in promoting service applications after November.

In short, extrapolate 2 years forward from November – the corresponding system API looks like Android 11 (API level 30), right? If an existing application listed by a developer on Google Play fails to correspond to this highest API level, it will be regarded as an outdated application by the App Store and will no longer be explored and installed by new users in the Google Play App Store (excluding those who have installed this application before). The demand for this API will also push forward with the launch of new systems – now it seems that every time the API level of a new system is improved, it will be pushed back.

Although for ordinary users, the information currently displayed on Google Play should only be the “Minimum Android Version Requirements” for reference. However, in fact, the application store’s requirements for apps not only take care of the minimum version requirements of the old system, but also meet the target API level requirements of the new system. Previously, Google had newer system requirements for new applications; updates to existing applications would take longer; the new policy for existing applications announced this time has planned a corresponding period of about two years.

As for why it seems that the policy on existing applications has only been suddenly tightened now. It is speculated that it is probably because in recent years mobile systems have put more emphasis on the transparency of privacy requirements for applications and systems (you can tell from the fact that you have to always give permissions every time you install an application XD), which has caused some applications to temporarily stop at the relatively old Target API level.

According to reports, the popular overseas Snapchat application is still stuck on Android 5.1, which is the ultra-old API level 22, and is unwilling to even enter Android 6.0. In this regard, Google obviously really needs to come up with some measures to ensure that users of the new system can have the best experience and to further protect privacy.
