Many Apple fans are believed to be looking forward to the iPhone 14. Among the current rumors about the iPhone 14, the most mentioned thing may be that the bangs may be eliminated or reduced. However, in fact, the main camera specifications will be improved, and the issue that may even cause the lens to appear more protruding is also being raised. Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo boldly broke the news, saying that the iPhone 14 will benefit from the main camera specification being pushed to 48 million pixels, and the lens part will also “grow taller”. This may be the biggest bad news for users who don’t want a bump on the back of their phone.

Many people think that if the iPhone 14 wants to improve the camera quality, it may just use a larger image sensor. The most rumored part of this part is the part where the specifications have been upgraded to 48 million pixels. Currently, the main camera of the iPhone 13 only has 12 million pixels, but thanks to the powerful algorithm of iOS and the powerful computing performance of the Apple SoC chip, the iPhone has always had a high reputation for camera performance.

Higher pixels, more convex camera, maybe a stronger camera requires these sacrifices

If the iPhone 14 directly uses a 48-megapixel camera, coupled with its powerful algorithm, it may allow the iPhone to triple-jump in camera performance to a level that other mobile phone manufacturers will find difficult to catch up with. However, as the image sensor in the camera becomes more powerful, the lens will naturally have to keep up so that it can complement each other. Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that if Apple makes such a change, the lens part will also “grow taller” a lot.

After all, the new camera has 48 million pixels, so it’s not too strange that the lens module is taller, but it feels more obvious to the touch (image source:MacRumors)

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he believes this will increase the diagonal length of the camera bump by 33% and lead to a height increase of 5 to 10%. 10% may not sound too much, considering the size of the lens is even more insignificant, but it is indeed more prominent than previous models. For users who are interested in protecting the lens to avoid affecting the performance of taking pictures, a better lens protector or a thickened mobile phone protective case is definitely one of the must-have accessories.

The main reason for the larger and more prominent rear-camera bump of the 14 Pro/Pro Max is upgrading the wide camera to 48MP (vs. 13 Pro/Pro Max’s 12MP). The diagonal length of 48MP CIS will increase by 25-35%, and the height of 48MP’s 7P lens will increase by 5-10%. https://t.co/lrwgmnLNce

However, since the lens may grow taller, Apple may naturally redesign the lens module to find a way to suppress this increased height. The possible design would be to directly make the entire module higher to protect the lens that is more convex due to the increase in pixels.

The use of a 48-megapixel camera module may also mean that Apple is ready to upgrade the recording specifications of the iPhone 14 to 8K level. It’s just that we don’t yet know how many sets of lenses Apple plans to design for this new phone. If the camera module area remains the same but is just a little taller, then it may be most likely to maintain the original two-to-three-lens design.

Judging from the renderings exposed so far, it seems that the number and position of the cameras will not change. What is more obvious is that the bangs on the front may disappear (Picture source:@aaple_lab (Twitter)))

In addition, regarding the bangs of iPhone 14,At present, more rumors are that there will be an exclamation mark or a pill capsule type of digging hole., to accommodate the front lens and Face ID module. However, this statement cannot be verified at present. It can at least be speculated that Apple will work hard to reduce the bangs, but the periscope lens technology has not yet had a chance to be applied to future iPhones.Prices may start at $799。

The new SoC chip used in the new iPhone 14 may be an improved version of the A15 chip.It is currently speculated that the chip may also be renamed A16 or A16 Pro,Memory even up to 8GB. Whether the process will switch from 5nm to a more advanced 4nm process remains to be verified, but for now it seems that at least the performance will definitely increase significantly.

As usual, Apple holds an iPhone launch event in September every year. There may be many strange predictions or gossip about these phones, and maybe they will all be confirmed by then. In any case, even though the appearance may become more unpleasant, the iPhone 14 will definitely bring everyone unexpected surprises in taking pictures.
