Scam calls have long been a common tactic used by fraud syndicates, and the elderly are their primary targets. For years, many seniors have been tricked into having all the money in their bank accounts transferred out. To prevent the elderly from becoming targets again, British telecom company Virgin Media O2 has launched a revolutionary, human-like AI chatbot named “Daisy.” Daisy is designed specifically to fight fraud syndicates by playing the victim to waste their time and gather intelligence for law enforcement, using Daisy to take on these despicable scammers.

British telecom company launches little old lady AI to chat up and waste scammers’ time.
British telecom company Virgin Media O2 has launched an AI chatbot named Daisy, whose personality has been shaped to resemble a lovable British grandmother, complete with gray-white hair, black-rimmed glasses, and a pearl necklace. Her voice was inspired by the grandmother of an employee at London-based creative agency VCCP Faith, using that grandmother’s voice to craft Daisy’s charming, authentic character.

Virgin Media O2’s anti-fraud team added Daisy’s dedicated phone number to the scammers’ contact list, making Daisy one of the scammers’ potential targets. As soon as the scammers called Daisy’s dedicated phone, Daisy could use AI technology to convert the scammers’ voice into text, then use a large language model to generate customized replies.
AI chatbot Daisy never rests and is available around the clock to wait for scam callers. It answers calls instantly, mimics human behavior, and interacts with scammers to waste their time, reducing the number of successful scams while also protecting other potential victims.
The content of Daisy’s conversations with the scam group is transmitted to law enforcement agencies, allowing them to collect the scammers’ fraud techniques and obtain as much evidence as possible without anyone being defrauded.

In Virgin Media O2’s introduction video for its AI chatbot Daisy, Daisy says, “When they’re busy talking to me, they can’t trick you. And I’ve got all the time in the world.” The video also shows Daisy avoiding sharing sensitive information like bank account and credit card numbers, mostly talking about her kitten Fluffy or telling the scammers about her nonexistent family.
For years, the elderly have been seen as the easiest targets for scams, so fraudulent schemes aimed at them have proliferated endlessly. But now, with the AI chatbot Daisy, it’s no longer the elderly getting tricked—it’s the scammers themselves. Just thinking about scam rings wasting all that time chatting with a robot is hilarious.
Although Taiwan doesn’t have the AI chatbot Daisy, we do have Taiwan Mobile’s Anti-Fraud Sentinel, which is currently free for a limited time. Scam calls, phishing text messages, malicious websites, and other fraud methods from criminal groups are all OUT! If you’re interested, you can watch the video below to learn more:
