Google, which once slashed the RSS subscription service that many people, including the author, loved to use, unexpectedly would have similar functions again in 2021.Add it back on Chrome – Although the name is “Follow/Follow”, but it is basically a function of subscribing to the website through RSS… Although it makes people think that there is no need to do this in vain, just resurrect Google Reader, but it is still a good thing to be able to come back. Now, after testing the Android mobile version, they quietly caught it in the code. This feature should be available in the desktop version (spread). Code shows Chrome’s RSS subscription tracking feature is coming to the desktop version

Although in terms of design concept, Google Chrome’s new RSS subscription “tracking” is more biased towards the function of users actively subscribing to the website (the website notification permission requirement that many people don’t want to follow is the extreme one where the website takes the initiative XD). And as for alternative services that require Google Reader, I believe everyone has found one (I use Feedly).

However, we can see that Google is willing to change its mind and create website subscription functions for ordinary people. In addition to leading other brands to introduce similar functions – Microsoft Edge also hasLa! I believe that the popularization of this RSS function, the increase in website attention, and even the increase in traffic will also be of positive help.

Now it seems that Google not only plans to provide such a function on mobile systems, but even the desktop version of Chrome may “follow” this new trend and introduce active tracking functions for a single website.

An expert shared his findings on Reddit’s Chrome forum. In addition to the desktop version of Chromium Gerrit, you may choose to add a tracking button to the menu like the Android version. It is also believed that Google will provide an RSS website organizing function similar to Feedly in the sidebar of the window in the form of a combobox in its own signature browser, which will also include some YouTuber channel posts.

This means that, in addition to the new sidebar feature, Google may provide an at-a-glance list of the latest posts from the source of the RSS feed. On the other hand, the official seems to have also prepared a page for recommended subscriptions, and may also add RSS subscription services to other services under its umbrella – such as YouTube’s category integration is quite good (like it).

Currently in Chrome on Android, as long as you receive this feature, you can quickly see the tracking button behind the URL bar of the website that confirms the RSS subscription service, and a list of all tracking websites will be organized at the bottom of the new tab. As for what kind of ingenuity and new features Google will provide in the desktop version, we may have to wait until the function is officially launched for testing before we have the opportunity to see the full picture.
