Many people joke that as AI keeps advancing, a lot of people will be out of work. But this is no longer just a joke—a foreign news station is now using AI to replace humans. A Reddit user shared that they originally thought the skills they learned would last them until retirement, but unexpectedly, they were laid off at just under 30 years old. The reason is that the AI system can now handle 100% of the production work, so the news station decided to lay off all production staff, leaving 20 people without jobs.

Eliminated before 30! AI-driven systems rewrite the news production industry.

Reddit user @ALoafAloft shared in the ChatGPT community that he had been told his entire career would be automated away. For the past decade, @ALoafAloft has worked in production at a local news station abroad, originally believing this skill would carry him through to retirement. Unexpectedly, before he even turned 30, his job was taken away by AI.

Well this is it boys. I was just informed from my boss and HR that my entire profession is being automated away.

Unexpectedly, thanks to advances in today’s AI-driven system technology, AI is now able to fully handle production work including directing, audio operation, and graphic operation, and so on. As a result, the news station no longer needs humans to do production work—except for the supervisors responsible for overseeing and maintaining the AI systems—and a total of 20 production staff members, including @ALoafAloft, have been laid off.

According to information shared by @ALoafAloft, their newsroom is the first in the company to implement this AI-driven system. Once the system is implemented and running smoothly, it will be rolled out nationwide across the United States. This AI system will cause tens of thousands of people to lose their jobs without creating any new ones. @ALoafAloft said people might think coexisting with AI will bring a bright future, but unfortunately, what they’re experiencing now is what the future of coexisting with AI actually looks like. Coexisting with AI isn’t about creating new job opportunities—it’s about eliminating entire industries.

The company developing the AI-driven system is still unknown at this point. In the article, @ALoafAloft indicated it appears to be a product from a company called Q ai. However, netizens confirmed that Q ai has not released the product @ALoafAloft described. Later, @ALoafAloft added in the comments that he actually isn’t sure about the correct company name either—it could be Cue, Q, or Queue. But he doesn’t care. He only cares about what he should do to make money after getting laid off.
