Although some people may think that these may be “known uses of fire”. However, for the majority of iPhone users, the recent iOS updates released by Apple, especially the face unlock no longer need to rely on the help of Apple Watch.“True Mask Face Unlock” function, I believe they are all highly anticipated features. What’s interesting is that iOS 15.4 Beta 2, which was launched not long ago, can actually bring out other fresh features right away! Inductive payment and digital driver’s license are new features that are continuously tested in iOS 15.4, and mask unlocking has also been improved!
It was only at the end of January that Apple launched the Face ID mask face unlocking test function in time for iPhone (iPhone 12 and above, to be precise) users who were preparing to celebrate the New Year everywhere. In the past two days, the second version of iOS 15.4 beta was released to developers. What’s interesting is that this update not only makes corrections to detailed functions, but also brings some new features in preparation for the official launch.

According to foreign media reports, this time iOS 15.4 Beta 2 not only targets specific recognition scenarios, but also provides users who activate mask unlocking that only detects the area around the eyes with recommendations to look down when unlocking. Preparations for the payment collection function and even the digitization of driver’s licenses have also been added.
The new “Tap to Pay on iPhone” allows you to provide the function of contactless payment with iPhone after developers add new APIs. It is now confirmed that developers will begin to use it in this test version; the Wallet wallet function is in addition to vaccine passports and digital ID cards.Found in the code, Apple seems to be preparing to provide more support for the digitization of identity documents for iPhone.

Through the relevant code and instructions, at least the relevant certification documents of the US Transportation Security Administration (probably a driver’s license) can be digitized and stored in the iPhone’s digital wallet Wallet. Although this feels a bit far away from being available in Taiwan (Easycard has not even been released yet…), at least the functions are already there. We can also look forward to the day when we can put one less small card in our physical pockets.

Interestingly, some people have also discovered that this time iOS 15.4 Beta 2 has removed the permissions provided by previous versions to provide more control over accessing iCloud data through the web page – the reason is unknown, but it is speculated that it is because the function is not yet perfect. In addition, for the HomePod smart speaker, Apple also took advantage of this update to add support for forced home Wi-Fi (Captive Wi-Fi).

iOS 15.4 Beta 2 is currently being pushed to developers, and if nothing unexpected happens, the public beta version should be launched soon. Even though Apple’s Public Beta has been relatively stable recently and there have been no serious disasters, it is still a beta system after all, so it is recommended to make a backup before updating. Don’t ignore possible errors because the time interval is very close and you think there are not many changes.
