The National Health Insurance Department recently expanded the trial run of the virtual health insurance card program that started in 2019, allowing the public to directly apply for a virtual health insurance card in a few simple steps through the “National Health Insurance Autopass App”. In the future, they can scan the QR Code for medical treatment at medical institutions that support this program. There is no need to worry about the card being damaged, difficult to read, or lost.

Zero contact for medical treatment! Taiwan’s “Virtual Health Insurance Card” trial is expanding, how to apply here (tutorial)
Although the digital vaccine card may have to wait, it has been on trial for three years and has been supported by more than 565 medical institutions and 42,000 people have applied for the “virtual health insurance card” function. It has now been announced that the trial will be expanded in response to the surge in related needs such as zero-contact medical treatment and communication diagnosis and treatment.

After the application is completed, you can use the “Health Insurance Autopass App” (download:iOS（App Store）｜Android（Google Play）The “Virtual Health Insurance Card” function in “Virtual Health Insurance Card” can call up a QR Code scanning interface for medical treatment. It can even allow elders or users who are inconvenient to use health insurance cards by themselves to authorize health insurance card authentication through the application. Virtual health insurance card application tutorial
After downloading the “Health Insurance Auto Pass App”, you can find the “Virtual Health Insurance Card” function in the function list as soon as you open it. After clicking in, you can select “Use Virtual Health Insurance Card” to enter the authentication screen. This article uses the iOS version as a demonstration:
Here we choose mobile phone authentication. You will need to check the last four digits of the health insurance card number (this should be familiar to friends who have made vaccine reservations) and the mobile phone number of the person with the health insurance card – it needs to be a monthly rental number of China’s Five Telecoms. Please turn off Wi-Fi and use the mobile network during authentication. For dual (multiple) SIM card machines, please turn off other numbers first and leave your own number in the activated state:
After filling in the information, you will be asked to set a registration password to complete the registration:
Then go to the App homepage and select “Virtual Health Insurance Card” to start using it after agreeing to the authorization function:
When you use it for the first time, you will be asked to upload a photo for the virtual health insurance card after checking the pilot plan and privacy terms – there are photo regulations below. I just used my mobile phone to take a selfie with a white wall. After completion, you can scan it for medical staff through the QR Code page (the photo only needs to be set once, and you can log in directly with your ID card number and set password):
The authorized caregiver can also obtain authorization through QR Code, and then use his or her mobile phone to present the health insurance card on behalf of the family member (PS: Both the authorizer and the authorized person must apply for a virtual health insurance card):

By the way, after the application is completed, if you really want to use it in the hospital recently, it is recommended that you remember to searchList of pilot institutions (portal). Then I suggest you still bring the card with you at the beginning. Although you really want to have zero contact as much as possible, you still want to avoid any situation that makes your trip in vain!
