Google officially released the new Android 17 operating system on June 16, 2026. The new system takes “Agentic AI” and multi-tasking as the core, strengthens creator tools, cross-device interconnection and privacy security, and provides 10 core functions and features.
What are the ten core features of Android 17? Which mobile phones are expected to be upgraded? The following is a summary and explanation:

Google has officially released the latest Android 17 operating system, which takes “Agentic AI” and multitasking as the core, adds or optimizes ten core functions, and opens download updates for the Google Pixel 6 series and subsequent models. Below is a summary video and detailed description of Android 17 features and a list of Android 17 phones that can be upgraded:

1. Top ten core features of Android 17:

A.Bubble multi-tasking design (App Bubbles):
Android 17 adds a bubble multitasking design, which can reduce background applications to floating bubbles and fix them on the edge of the screen. It supports stacking of multiple bubbles, making multitasking more intuitive.

B. Screen Reactions:
Android 17 supports the screen reaction function, integrates the recording requirements of reaction video, supports the simultaneous addition of selfie images when recording, and has the system’s instant back-off function, allowing the phone to activate the front camera and screen recording functions at the same time. The first reaction when watching videos and browsing important news can be recorded and saved in the form of selfie videos.

C. Foldable Gaming Mode:
Android 17 optimization can add a foldable game mode. When the foldable phone is opened, the lower half of the screen can be used as a virtual game controller, maximizing the game screen and button operation space.

D. Theft and privacy security upgrade:
Android 17 upgrades the anti-theft mode (Lost Mode) to strengthen phone theft protection and adds “mark as lost”, which allows the owner to remotely lock the phone with biometric authentication to prevent thieves from accessing data or turning off location tracking. In addition, it limits the number of incorrect password entries and extends the waiting time after each failed entry. It also adds one-time location permissions and limits background audio interactions to prevent applications from accessing data without authorization.

E. Limit the upper limit of APP memory:
Android 17 introduces “Application RAM Limit”, which can actively terminate problem apps that overuse resources for a long time, reduce phone lags and background apps being forced to reload, to ensure that apps do not occupy too much memory and help improve the overall performance and battery life of the device.

F. Deep AI integration and automation:
Android 17’s Gemini is not only a chatbot, but also an “agent” that can automatically perform multi-step tasks across applications, including the ability to easily edit videos with Gemini Omni, create exclusive soundtracks with Gemini, and create “Avatars” that look and sound like you.
In addition, through “Create My Widget”, users can directly describe in text and freely generate exclusive desktop widgets; “circle search” has further evolved, and through the new “Search similar styles” function, you can quickly find a complete set of clothing items.

G. Digital health protection (pause point):
Android 17 introduces Pause Point to improve users’ digital health. When users open distracting apps (such as TikTok), the system will first pop up a 10-second countdown screen, forcing them to pause and think about whether they really want to start swiping their phones, effectively suppressing “unintentional swiping.”

H. Automatically remove redundant words from speech transcription:
Android 17 launches an upgraded version of the voice recording tool Rambler, which not only improves the accuracy of transcription, but also automatically detects and deletes superfluous words and redundant words when speaking, making the produced meeting records or interview transcripts more professional and concise.

I. Deep integration of IG camera:
Android 17 allows Instagram to directly call system-level camera functions. IG’s built-in camera can directly use Ultra HDR shooting, hardware-level video anti-shake, and “Night Sight”.

J. Cross-platform and device interconnection:
Android 17 provides an upgraded version of the quick sharing function, supports cross-platform file transfer with Apple AirDrop, and optimizes the “switch to Android device” function. In addition to photos and passwords, it also supports direct and seamless transfer of eSIM data.

Special reminder,Some of the above-mentioned core features of Android 17 may only be available to Google Pixel phones at the initial stage. The actual functions are subject to the announcements of each Android brand phone!
