Android Auto has a bug! Google Maps crash and restart issue bothers users

in Android App Sharing Introduction

When it comes to the most important task of a car system, I personally feel that navigation should definitely be the biggest focus in many people’s minds – although being able to play music is also important XD. Recently, car owners using Android Auto have begun to report that they have encountered the problem of navigation crashing and restarting in about 5 to 10 minutes, which has attracted considerable attention. The reason why many people like to use car systems such as Android Auto is that they don’t want to have to deal with various touch functions on a small mobile phone screen while driving. It allows people to use the relatively large car central control screen to navigate and perform related controls using voice, thereby achieving relatively safe control of the device operating status of the multimedia system.

And since it is intended to be used in situations such as car use, the overall stability performance has naturally become a very important point – the screen resolution and running speed can be poor (of course, good is the best), and if there is a crash problem, it will really cause three lines in the face. As a result, some people recently began to report on the Internet that they encountered continuous crashes when using Android Auto for Google Maps navigation.

That is to say, although the main system of Android Auto still runs on the mobile phone, in theory, as long as something does not happen to the Android system, the navigation state should be restored immediately. Someone just happened to take a picture of this state that is said to flash back every 5 to 10 minutes once encountered. It can be seen that after the pattern goes dark, the navigation state can be restored immediately – although if you are about to turn or switch lanes and need to confirm the lane, your heart will freeze, but at least the recovery is relatively fast.

This feeling is a bit like poor contact or sudden hot plugging. Generally, it is guessed that it occurs when Android Auto is connected wirelessly? However, it is said that among the users who have reported so far, they are basically both wired and wireless Android Auto users – in the video, the phone was firmly plugged in and did not encounter too much swing in bad road conditions… In addition, the reported models include not only the vivo X70 Pro in the video, but also Huawei’s Mate20 Pro and Google’s Pixel 3 XL. And since Google’s own mobile phones have encountered it, it seems that possible bug issues with third-party mobile phone systems have been ruled out.

This unexplained crash caused by the black screen bug disaster, according to observations, it “should” not be a widespread problem at present. However, the official Android Auto team has responded that it has received this issue and will learn more about it. Unfortunately, we still don’t know whether it is the Android system or simply Google Maps. I wonder if anyone has encountered a similar situation? You can repay it.
