But all in all, Apple has indeed launched an app called “Tracker Detect” as its name suggests.
Basically, its function is basically the same as opening the Find app on iPhone to “identify found items”, that is, you can use your mobile phone to scan the surrounding Apple Find My network-compatible devices that have been disconnected from the AirTag user before the AirTag actively sounds and reports to surrounding devices (usually takes several hours, there are reports that it can be detected through the app in just 10 minutes).

The author also tried to install it on Pixel 3 XL and simply scan the devices around him, but did not see the relevant devices being scanned out. As can be seen from the official app screenshots, this scanning function will actively scan out “unknown items” that may be lost around you and can control it to make a sound (if supported), thereby confirming whether there is a tracker placed in your own vehicle or bag, or whether it is just a friend or a nearby vehicle or item that has a Find My compatible device installed in it.
If you really find an unknown item, the App will also provide you with information on how to help the owner retrieve the item, or how to remove the battery to protect yourself from being tracked – it even mentions that if you really feel that you have a safety problem, it is recommended to contact the local law enforcement unit and provide the serial number of the device to report the case.
At present, it seems that this application should only have a simple scanning function. Although I’m not sure if it can also detect the background and prompt the owner of the phone that there may be unknown items being tracked around it like the iPhone when installed (the app doesn’t specifically introduce it… this is not a feature that will be revealed right away). But now that this app has been launched, maybe we can expect Apple to improve its functions in the future, right?
