Apple offers free laser engraving services for specific products such as AirPods, AirTag, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), iPad or iPod touch. However, based on the laws and regulations of various countries and Apple’s own review mechanism, there are banned word mechanisms in different regions and countries, and laser engraving services are not provided for some inappropriate words. According to a report by foreign media Citizen Lab. The Apple laser engraving service has six categories of content filtering restrictions, including:
A. [Security filtering]:Website name, URL, SQL content and other technical services cannot be used, such as , ; DELETE FROM, http://127.0.0.1.
B. [Lowercase filtering]: AirTags do not support lowercase character engraving, and Apple’s Web UI will automatically capitalize letters.
C. [Character Count Filter]: AirTag cannot be engraved with more than four characters)

according toCitizen Lab’s latest report, after analyzing Apple’s filtering keyword strategies in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Canada, and the United States, it was found that there are 1,105 sets of rules, which typically include pornography, swear words, indecent words, politically sensitive words, etc. Among them, Mainland China ranks first with 1,045 sensitive banned words, Hong Kong ranks second with 542 words, and Taiwan ranks third with 397 words.
Mainland China and Hong Kong are far ahead in terms of sensitive banned words, mainly because there are quite a lot of politically-related banned words. Taiwan only has 29 words, and the United States, Canada, and Japan do not have any politically-related banned words.
