In October 2023, OpenAI opened up the DALL-E 3 AI image generation feature to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users. At that time, people were still looking forward to it.When will ChatGPT free-tier users be able to use DALL-E 3?At the time, I originally thought it would take a while. However, OpenAI announced today that it is providing free ChatGPT users with the ability to generate images using DALL·E 3, and now free version users of ChatGPT can also use DALL-E 3 to generate images!

OpenAI brings good news: ChatGPT free tier users can also use the DALL-E 3 image generation feature.
OpenAI announced today that it is making DALL·E 3 image generation available to free ChatGPT users. Now regular users like us can also experience DALL·E 3! Free-tier ChatGPT users can now generate up to two images per day with DALL·E 3.
We’re rolling out the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL·E 3.

Now free-tier users can simply open ChatGPT on your computer or mobile, type “generate a photo of…”, and ChatGPT will create the image you want.

The editor has posted test images here. You can generate at most two per day; if you exceed that, you’ll need to wait 24 hours before generating more.

The editor asked ChatGPT to generate a photo of a Border Collie and a tuxedo cat cuddling together. Not sure if it’s because ChatGPT isn’t that familiar with Chinese or what, but the cat breed that came out wasn’t a tuxedo cat. If you want to generate images that match your prompt better, using English prompts should work more effectively.

Besides the images generated by the editor, we’ve also included videos provided by OpenAI for your reference. If you have ChatGPT, go try it out now:

Of course, if you feel that two images per day is too few for ChatGPT free version users, you can also use other free text-to-image tools we’ve introduced before to generate more images. If you’re interested, click below to read more:
