Spotify said there were compatibility issues with supporting AirPlay 2, which once made people think they were going to give up support (but they didn’t)

For Apple users who hope that Spotify can support the more advanced AirPlay 2 technology, they should feel like they have washed out their sauna in the past two days. Because the official first chose to mention driver issues regarding Apple’s multi-device streaming playback function in its own support forum. And in the text, people are biased and will not solve this problem, giving people the feeling of being stunned (deng). However, following the crazy discussions in the media and the community, the official suddenly made a sharp turn and announced a (supposedly) optimistic future direction. Spotify said there were compatibility issues with supporting AirPlay 2, which once made people think they were going to give up support (but they didn’t)

It must be said that based on what Spotify has woven with Apple in recent yearslove hate storyCome and see. It’s not too surprising (right?) that the “aggressiveness” of cooperation on each other’s technical support will have an impact. Recently, Spotify has been complaining to many users for a long time, and it has shown a somewhat negative attitude towards AirPlay 2 playback support, which has been launched in 2018.

Not long ago, Spotify was found to have updated the user wish page for AirPlay 2 support on iOS. It suddenly mentioned that due to audio driver compatibility issues, it stated that it would not be able to complete this support in the foreseeable future. It seems that it is basically certain that the multi-device playback aspect that was originally expected to be added will be difficult to implement in the short term.

However, after many users expressed disappointment in the community and reports in the technology media. Unexpectedly, I felt that I was already at a loss and had no intention of continuing to join the Spotify team that supports this. I actually updated this support description, first apologizing for the possible misunderstanding, and also clearly promising that “Spotify will support AirPlay 2” – don’t rush to spread the word.

I have to say that this back and forth did give users the feeling of taking a sauna, but at least everyone got a positive response. But really speaking, the official still did not promise a specific timetable in this announcement (it only said that if there is relevant information, it will be posted?). So does this mean that Spotify has a more proactive attitude towards this support?

Personally, I think it’s better not to have high expectations before further updates are released…
