Google today officially launched the redesigned “Google Finance”, ending the beta phase of the past few months and bringing a number of major updates at once, including a new portfolio import function, regular market briefings, and the debut of Android native applications. Google says the updates will roll out globally starting this week, with the iOS version expected to be available later in 2026.

The most eye-catching feature of this revision is the new portfolio management function. In the past, users had to enter position information one by one, but now Google Finance allows users to directly upload screenshots, CSV or PDF files, and the system will automatically parse the content and create investment portfolios. Users can even type in natural language, such as “I own 50 shares of NVIDIA” or “I own three U.S. Treasury bond ETFs,” and Google Finance will automatically add the information to the portfolio.
After the import is completed, the system will integrate all assets into a unified dashboard, showing investment performance, asset allocation, concentration risk, and which targets bring the greatest gains or losses. Google said that investment portfolios created in the old version of Google Finance will also be automatically transferred to the new version of the interface without additional settings.
The new version of Google Finance also integrates the AI Research Assistant (Research Assistant), which can use the user’s investment portfolio as background information to answer more contextual questions. For example, users can ask “whether my investments are overly concentrated in technology stocks,” “how a fixed-income position will affect long-term returns,” or “which industries are significantly underrepresented in my allocation.” Google emphasizes that all uploaded files and images will not be retained, and portfolio information can only be viewed by the user and can be edited or deleted at any time.
Another new capability is Scheduled Briefings. Users can set up market reports to be generated on a regular basis, such as daily cryptocurrency overnight trends, a weekly list of new IPOs, or market summaries for specific industries. These reports are automatically generated, allowing users to stay abreast of the latest developments without having to manually query them.
At the same time, Google also launched the new Google Finance Android app. The app provides self-selected stock lists, interactive charts, real-time market data, news feeds, and the same AI research team as the web version. This is the first time that Google has launched a complete native mobile application for Finance, which means that users can track market changes in more real-time. However, Google has not announced the exact launch time of the iOS version.
Since the new version of Google Finance began testing late last year, Google has continued to expand its AI-driven financial platform layout. In April, Google Finance expanded to more than 100 countries, giving more users access to its research tools, advanced charts and market news. The update in Europe in May added functions such as real-time financial report conference calls, verbatim drafts, and AI summaries to further enhance the professionalism and information depth of the platform. Overall, being able to import portfolios directly from screenshots or files will significantly lower the barrier to use and bring Google Finance closer to a one-stop investment information platform. However, although Android users can already experience the full functionality, iOS users still need to wait for Google to announce a clearer launch schedule.
