Unexpectedly, it recently quietly “increased the gift” and postponed the end date of the program to October 12, 2027, which is equivalent to an extra year. This also means that Windows 10 users will continue to receive important security updates at least until this time next year.
Windows 10 support quietly extended for another year: ESU security updates available until October 12, 2027
According to foreign media Windows Latest According to the discovery, Microsoft mentioned in a support document: “Windows 10 support has ended. You can register for extended security updates at any time before the end of the program on October 12, 2027. If you have already registered, your protection will automatically extend to that date and no action is required.”
The end date of the program was originally 2026, but suddenly there was an extra year, so Windows Latest also confirmed it to Microsoft, and Microsoft responded: “The Windows 10 Extended Security Update Program for personal use devices will be provided for an additional year, and the coverage period can now be extended to October 12, 2027. This extension gives customers more time to switch to a new Windows 11 computer while still continuing to receive important security updates.”
This means that Microsoft has really extended security updates for Windows 10 for another year. This should come as a relief to many people, who can continue to safely use Windows 10 for another year.

The consumer version of Windows 10 ESU is suitable for the Home, Professional, Pro Education and Workstations versions of Windows 10 22H2. The device needs to have the latest Windows Update installed, and the Microsoft account you log in must be a system administrator.
However, it should be noted that ESU only has “security updates” and does not have any new features. Microsoft’s official document states that ESU only provides critical and important security updates to reduce the risk of malware and network attacks on Windows 10 devices during the transition period. It does not contain new features, feature improvements, product enhancements, or general technical support.
