Microsoft has set a retirement date for Internet Explorer. Next year, “IE will really be unable to move” (Yuanwang)
Are you still using IE? This old browser has been around for more than 25 years. In fact, Microsoft has already found its future, which is the Edge browser using the Chromium core. But it may be the same as Xu Ruyun’s old song, the joke lyrics of “IE can’t move” back then. No matter how nostalgic you are, since Microsoft has officially announced its retirement date, it is recommended to do a good job in transferring it while there is still nearly a year to avoid the saved website from never being found.(Oh, yes, I just insist on making lyrics)。

This means that according to Microsoft’s announcement, Internet Explorer has long since faded away from its important role as the default browser for Windows. In fact, the LTSC maintenance channel version of Windows 10 will still include this old browser; the consumer version will definitely stop supporting it from June 2022. Therefore, in addition to decommissioning/stopping support, it is no longer built into the Windows 10 system, and the date when IE will be fully included in the system is actually still uncertain.

For those who still need IE support, Microsoft has already provided an extended support mode for IE Mode in the Edge browser, so that older versions of ActiveX and websites can still receive backward compatibility support.
Microsoft also promised that this compatibility mode will continue to be supported until at least 2029. So if you or your company or school still rely heavily on IE only web services, it is recommended that you stop using old browsers that are relatively dangerous for information security! At least switch to it first and see if there is any problem with this downward support mode, so as to avoid really encountering the heartbreaking skylight problem of IE being unable to move.
