with AI As AI continues to develop rapidly, many parents undoubtedly want their children to get started early. However, the vast majority of AI learning products available today are designed for adults, making them too difficult for kids.

Good news: the Ministry of Education has released two free AI teaching handbooks designed specifically for middle school, high school, and elementary school students. Everyone can download them for free, allowing children at home to happily learn about the latest AI applications through illustrations and easy-to-understand content.

The Ministry of Education released two free AI teaching handbooks featuring cute illustrations, designed to help elementary through high school students learn AI applications enjoyably.

According to the explanation, to enable elementary and high school students to safely and intelligently engage with AI, the Ministry of Education has planned two learning handbooks designed specifically for K-12 students: “Learning AI Together with Me” for elementary school students, and “Mastering AI, Gaining Insight into the Future: Essential Lessons for Digital Citizens” for high school students.

The teaching in this handbook is not focused on technical operations. Instead, it emphasizes AI’s role as a learning support tool, using examples drawn from classrooms and daily life to help students understand the capabilities, limitations, and risks of generative AI, while fostering the right attitude toward its use.

Click the arrow icon next to ZIP on the right side to expand it, and you’ll find the PDF download links for “Learning Together with AI” and “Mastering AI, Gaining Insight into the Future: Essential Lessons for Digital Citizens.” You can download whichever book suits your child’s age, or both—the content is different. However, the one designed for junior and senior high school students has a slightly higher difficulty level:

“Learning AI Together” is an introductory guide to generative AI designed specifically for elementary school students. It spans 74 pages with rich, comprehensive content. The overall approach centers on everyday life relevance, storytelling, and task-based learning, helping children gradually understand what AI is, what it can do, and how to use it responsibly—all without technical pressure.

There are seven topics in total: first an introduction, then the chapters in order—Chapter 1: What is AI, Chapter 2: How to communicate with AI, Chapter 3: Fun AI mini-tasks to try, Chapter 4: Teaching kids that what AI says may not always be correct, Chapter 5: How AI can help with learning, and finally Chapter 6: How to be a good user in the AI era.

The content features many cute illustrations to prevent children from getting bored halfway through learning.

“Harnessing AI, Gaining Insight into the Future: Essential Lessons for Digital Citizens” is a generative AI learning handbook tailored for junior high and high school students, elevating the content to the level of “understanding, analysis, and reflection.” Beyond teaching students how to use AI, it further explores AI’s impact on learning, society, and personal judgment.

There are also seven chapters: the introduction, Chapter 1 on AI applications in daily life and creation, Chapter 2 on how to learn through AI, Chapter 3, which is very important, about distinguishing real from fake AI and information, Chapter 4 on correctly using AI, Chapter 5, also on how to learn through AI, and Chapter 6 exploring the future:

Compared to the elementary school version, this one is clearly more difficult and has fewer illustrations.

Each chapter is basically followed by challenge tasks, allowing children to reflect and review what they’ve learned.
