It seemsPrevious thunderstormRoughly achieved… half? Google for Pixel 4a The voice and video calling functions indeed bring a new experience. However, it seems that the function is mainly for real-time transcription, not the call recording function for recording conversations, and now some people are starting to try this new function. With the launch of Pixel 4a, Google naturally did not miss out on some current exclusive features (or should we say exclusive to the Pixel series). Not surprisingly, it brings Live Caption instant subtitle transcription to more functions. For example, the recording tool has confirmed that it can be linked with Google Docs to convert conversations into text format and automatically classify and label them.

Among them, the function that can generate real-time subtitles for videos, audio and other content has been officially upgraded when the Pixel 4a was launched. It can also generate subtitles during voice and video calls – yes, you can also read subtitles while talking on the phone, which is very interesting. This interesting feature has now been quickly tried out by foreign media The Verge.

This is also expected to provide real-time call transcription for Pixel 2, 3, 3a and 4. It is said that this will only perform recognition locally and will not save any data. When receiving an incoming call, a floating window similar to Whoscall will be displayed (eh… I wonder if the two windows will fight), and you can choose whether to activate real-time subtitles. After activation, there will also be a voice prompt to the other party that this feature is activated. At this time, the speech content will be converted into real-time subtitles for viewing on the Pixel phone – unfortunately, this feature is currently only supported in English.

This convenient feature is currently available on Pixel 4a. It will help friends who are inconvenient to answer calls directly or who need visual assistance to make calls, as a reference for visualizing voice content. That is to say, Google should also start to take a similar route to the translation conversation function launched by Skype a long time ago. Is there a chance to directly use Live Caption to match the translation of real-time calls? In fact, YouTube already has a similar function (subtitle translation), but it is obvious that the official hopes to improve the local real-time speech recognition function first, right?
