Although these quad-core, 8-thread processors are impressive in terms of performance and battery efficiency, users are still greedy anyway. Wish there were better performance options, more cores or better single core performance. A piece of information recently exposed may obviously surprise Microsoft Surface notebook enthusiasts. Because recently, the benchmark results of a suspected AMD physical 8-core processor used on Surface Laptop 4 were exposed on the Internet. The model of this processor is currently known to be Ryzen 7 4800U, but other information is still a bit unclear. Test data shows that the processor’s clock is set to 4,216 MHz. Although the benchmark results are not revealed, the computer brand clearly says Microsoft. As we all know, the processor brand of choice for laptops is definitely Intel. Recently, APISAK, a whistleblower, revealed a screenshot of 3DMark results through Twitter. This screenshot has limited information. First of all, it does not have a score, only hardware information. Secondly, everyone clearly sees that the word Microsoft is written in the Vendor column. Since Microsoft has not promoted new products for the Surface product line recently, and there is no gossip about new products to pick up, this revelation can explain something that although it is hidden, there are always people who are aware of the problem:

If the brand column is filled with Microsoft and the processor is a new and unfamiliar model, then it can probably explain something. This processor must be used in Microsoft’s engineering samples, and this engineering sample is very likely to be Surface Laptop 4. This also means that Surface Laptop 4 will likely be equipped with an 8-core notebook version of the AMD Zen 3 architecture.
At present, there is limited information about this Ryzen 7 4800U (according to convention, there may be 4880U, and the model suffix must be Microsoft Surface Edition). In addition to knowing that it is an 8-core 16-thread processor, other information is mainly based on the existing Ryzen 7 4800U. For example, the basic clock is 1.8GHz, the overclocking clock is 4.2GHz, and the process is TSMC 7nm FinFET. These are all officially announced specifications. In addition, the official version of Ryzen 7 4800U also comes with an AMD Radeon Graphics internal display. At most, it can be speculated that this processor is the same as the previous generation processor, and its full name is Ryzen 7 4800U Microsoft Surface Edition.
Although there is no actual running score data, compared with the previous generation Ryzen processor, it has at least twice as many cores, the clock speed is also good, and the computing performance should only be higher rather than lower.
