When practicing English and English listening, most people should listen to the radio or watch YouTube. But if you find it too difficult or want to have more fun, this free app “Learn English through Stories” is worth a try. It has a large number of built-in English storybooks and is divided into different levels, such as: suitable for beginners, college level, news, or children’s storybooks. It also supports offline download and listening functions. Currently only available on Android.

Learn English through Stories App Introduction
After opening it, you can start to select the English storybooks you want to listen to. The first few are suitable for beginners, and they are also divided into Level 1~4. If you are already at a certain level, you can try English at University. The second half is mainly a children’s storybook. Although the interface does not have Chinese, the storybooks all provide text files and built-in translation functions, so if there are words you don’t understand, you can get the Chinese translation with one click:

Each storybook is divided into multiple segments, so it is definitely enough for you to listen to:

After clicking in, you can start listening. After pressing the play button, the audio file will be automatically downloaded, so that you can continue listening even when there is no Internet connection. All storybooks have text files. If your listening skills are not very good yet, you can browse through them first to get a little impression, then read the text files while listening, and finally stop reading at all:

Clicking on a word you don’t understand will automatically pop up the translation function, which is translated into Chinese by default and can also be translated into other languages:

It also provides example sentences to help you better understand how to use this word:

Click the love function on the right side of a word to add it to my favorite List Word list for future review:

Unexpectedly, there are also Chinese stories (in English of course):

The story of Robin Hood also includes:

What I think is very good about this product is that the voices are all pronounced by real people, and they are emotional, not boring voice storytelling. Actual background playback and standby playback are no problem.
There are not many advertisements, which basically does not affect the user experience. The only small pity is that the interface design is a bit too cool for 2020, but after all, it is completely free, so it is still acceptable.
