This time I would like to share with you some of my personal research on mask quality and safety analysis. Currently, the Wuhan pneumonia (COVID-19) epidemic is getting more and more severe. In addition to reducing the number of trips out and staying at home to prevent the epidemic, the most basic protective weapon for the general public is a mask. Even those who were stubborn beforeThe U.S. CDC has also begun recommending that Americans wear masks to prevent the epidemic, but since the country can still only receive three pills a week (it will open to nine pills every two weeks), but there are seven days in a week, not three or 4.5 days, most people still need to go out to work every day and take public transportation. What if the masks are really not enough? I would also like to share my review experience of some other non-medical grade masks that I recently bought online. If you have also bought them online, you can try them out.

How to simply test the safety of a mask? Comparison between online shopping masks and government masks
First of all, I personally suggest that if possible, “change the mask every day” because it is difficult to guarantee that you will not come into contact with or pass by other carriers in a confined space. If you wear a mask, it will basically have a protective effect at the first time, but the virus may be on the mask you originally wore when going out. NHK has also done similar experiments. The droplets of an infected person can easily spread throughout the space. If you pick up that mask and “reuse” it, I personally feel it is not safe:
If you have to reuse it, do not use “boiling” or “steaming”. It is recommended to go online to find equipment with ultraviolet disinfection function. The Wuhan virus can be killed by ultraviolet light, but it takes more than 5 to 10 minutes. However, the smell of nasal mucus, saliva, etc. that has been stained on the inner layer of the mask cannot be eliminated. For the sake of hygiene, it is more reasonable to change it every day:

But if you really can’t buy medical-grade masks, there are actually some masks available online now, but you should pay attention to the seller’s evaluation and whether the contents match the product photos. I was personally deceived by an online store. A mask as thin as Okamoto 0.01 sold for 18 yuan a piece, and I returned it on the spot:
In fact, there are some masks on the Internet that are advertised as “medical grade” (maybe masks from Japan, South Korea or mainland China), but they have not been certified by our country. Just look at their certificates. Personally, I recommend treating them as “non-medical grade”. They can be bought and used for daily commuting. If you want to go to a hospital or other environment, it is safer to prepare medical grade. The following video is the method of testing the quality and protective effect of masks that I learned from several people in the medical industry. I made it into a video for your reference.
