HONOR, which is about to enter the Taiwan market, held a pre-MWC 2026 exhibition conference in Barcelona, Spain. In addition to announcing the brand layout, it also once again emphasized its core development blueprint “Project α”. This strategy focuses on the three major aspects of α mobile phone, α store and α laboratory. The goal is to promote the upgrade of AI technology from a tool role to a partner role and propose the concept of “enhancing human intelligence”.
In Honor’s plan, AI is no longer just a system that understands voice commands, but an intelligent body that can sense emotions, respond to atmosphere, and even show body movements. In other words, future mobile phones will not only understand what you say, but also understand your current mood. This direction also allows Honor to express its vision of making mobile phones have both IQ and EQ.
The Robot Phone unveiled this time is the first “new species” born under Project α. Its biggest feature is that it breaks through the traditional image of a smartphone as a black box and integrates a robot-level motion control system into the body.
The Robot Phone device is built with the industry’s smallest 4DoF degree of freedom gimbal system and micro motor. Compared with mainstream solutions, the size is reduced by about 70%, but it can complete multi-axis motion control in a very small space.
what does that mean? Simply put, the main lens module of a mobile phone is no longer just a static part, but has physical action capabilities.
When you make a video call, it automatically follows your movement angle.
When the AI assistant responds to instructions, it can also express it by nodding or shaking its head. Even when music is playing, the lens module can also move with the rhythm, adding a sense of companionship to the interaction.
This design concept called “embodied intelligence” is a key direction that HONOR hopes to introduce into the consumer market. In addition to Robot Phone, the brand also simultaneously displayed its first humanoid robot product, becoming the world’s first mobile phone brand to enter the consumer humanoid robot market. This layout shows that Honor is not just making mobile phones, but is trying to build a complete AI ecosystem.
Imaging capabilities are also the focus of Robot Phone. The main lens is equipped with a 3-axis mechanical anti-shake gimbal and a 200 million pixel sensor, supporting 90-degree and 180-degree smart rotation movements, bringing higher-level AI anti-shake and AI smart tracking functions.
This system can instantly detect image shake and compensate for it. In daily shooting situations, it can also provide a stable effect close to that of a movie camera.
What’s more noteworthy is that HONOR announced a partnership with a German professional film equipment brand ARRI Establish strategic cooperation. ARRI has been deeply involved in the field of movie cameras for many years. This cooperation with Honor symbolizes that Robot Phone is not only a hardware innovation, but also attempts to go further in image style and professional color management. For users who like to use their mobile phones to create videos, such cooperation actually means that the brand is moving closer to a more professional market.
In terms of AI functions, Robot Phone integrates Honor’s AI smart body system to support AI object tracking, AI smart editing and real-time scene analysis. When shooting videos in the future, the system can automatically identify the subject and track the composition, and even provide quick editing suggestions after the shooting is completed. The goal of these functions is to lower the threshold for creation while retaining a professional feel.
However, HONOR has not yet released details such as complete processor specifications, battery capacity or selling price. It has only confirmed that the Robot Phone will be officially released in the second half of 2026.
