This method is actually more convenient for passengers who want to travel temporarily and do not have an EasyCard or one-day ticket.
Beijie currently provides two digital ticket purchasing channels, and passengers can choose to use them according to their own habits. The first way is to use “Taipei MRT Go“Official APP, the second way is throughTaipei MRT ticket purchasewebsite. The functions of the two methods are actually the same, the only difference is whether you need to install the APP. If you don’t want to download the program, you can also directly use your mobile browser to open the ticket purchase website.

How to buy Beijie QR one-way ticket with mobile phone

If you choose to use your mobile phone to purchase tickets, the whole process is actually not complicated and generally only requires a few steps to complete.
First, open the Taipei MRT Go APP or enter the Taipei MRT ticket purchase webpage (the Taipei MRT ticket purchase is used as a demonstration below). If you are using the APP, enter the homepage and click the “MRT Ticket Purchase” function to start the operation.
Next, the system will ask you to log in to your account. Beijie provides a variety of login methods, including the following:

  • Taipei MRT Go Member Account
  • Google Account
  • Facebook account

Taking Google account login as an example, you need to enter personal information for the first time, including phone number, nationality and region.

After logging in, you can enter the ticket purchase process. On the ticket purchase page, users need to read the ticket purchase instructions first, and after confirmation, they can select the ticket type as a one-way ticket.

The system will then ask you to fill in the ride information, including “originating station”, “destination station”, and “number of tickets purchased”. After completing the input, click “Checkout”. The system will automatically calculate the fare. After confirming that the information is correct, you can click “I want to checkout”.

Click “Pay” on the payment method page and click “Confirm” when making the payment to select the payment method. Payment methods include credit card, LINE Pay, Jiekou Pay, Orange Pay, PiPai Wallet, Youyou Pay, Quan Pay, icash Pay and Quanying Pay.

Once the payment is completed, the tickets will be stored directly in the account’s “My Tickets”.

How to use QR ticket when entering the station

After completing the ticket purchase, passengers only need to turn on their mobile phones to use it when entering the station. The operation method is very simple. First, enter the Taipei MRT Go APP or ticket purchase website, and find the “My Tickets” function on the home page.
After clicking, the system will display the purchased tickets. Select the one-way ticket you want to use, click “Show Ticket”, and the QR Code will appear on the screen. Then just scan your phone screen in the QR Code scanning area at the MRT gate to complete your entry. When exiting the station, scan again to complete the boarding process.

The overall operation logic is actually similar to electronic coupons or mobile payments, and people who are accustomed to using mobile phones to pay can quickly get started.

If you don’t want to take the bus temporarily, you can also apply for a refund.

If you change your itinerary temporarily after purchasing a ticket, there is no need to worry. Beijie’s QR one-way tickets also provide online refund function. The refund method is the same as ticket purchase, and can be operated through the APP or mobile ticket purchase website. First, find the “Refund” function on the homepage, and then the system will display refundable ticket information.

After confirming the refund content, you can submit a refund application as long as you check I agree to the refund. After completion, the system will process the refund according to the original payment method.

This mechanism also makes ticket purchasing more flexible when it comes to temporarily changing the itinerary or buying the wrong ticket.

Conclusion

The introduction of QR single-way tickets in Taipei MRT also represents to some extent that the ticket purchasing method of MRT is gradually moving towards full digitization. For passengers who are accustomed to using mobile payment or electronic tickets, it is quite intuitive to directly use mobile phones to purchase tickets and scan to enter the station, and can also save time in queuing to operate the ticket vending machine.
Of course, if you are still used to the traditional method, you can still buy one-way tickets at the automatic ticket vending machines in the stations, so you don’t have to worry about being unable to take the train suddenly. However, for occasional MRT rides or temporary trips, mobile ticket purchasing does provide a more flexible option.
As QR tickets become more popular in the future, more modes of transportation may include similar digital rides. For commuters and travelers, the lifestyle of taking a ride, paying for a ride, and managing tickets with just a mobile phone may soon become a daily routine.
