Gemini It’s an AI assistant.

Gemini in Chrome Officially Launches in Taiwan! Powered by Gemini 3.1 — Features, How to Enable, and Supported Platforms Explained

This rollout of Gemini in Chrome covers multiple operating systems, including desktop Chrome (Windows, macOS) and Chrome for iOS. On Android, users can access Gemini by long-pressing the power button for assistance. And the model powering it all is, of course, the latest Gemini 3.1.

It’s also very easy to use. For the desktop version, after updating to the latest version of Chrome, the Gemini icon should appear in the top right corner. Just click it to enable the sidebar chat. If you don’t see the icon, you can check in Chrome settings to see if it’s enabled: Settings > AI innovations > Gemini in Chrome. Keyboard shortcuts are also available and can be customized in settings.

As for what you can do with Gemini? Just like other AI browsers, here’s what you can do:

  1. Web Page Summary & Cross-Tab Comparison: Easily compare prices across multiple shopping sites by extracting content from all your open tabs and compiling them into a comparison table.
  2. Google Ecosystem Integration: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, and YouTube can all be operated directly from the sidebar—asking it to draft a reply email, scheduling appointments based on your inbox, looking up business hours for a location, or asking questions about a YouTube video, all without leaving the current page.
  3. Nano Banana 2 Image Generation: The Nano Banana 2 image generation model is also supported. Simply describe your needs in the sidebar to generate or edit images.
  4. Personalized Memory: Gemini remembers your past conversations, so you don’t have to start from scratch when asking similar questions again.
  5. Security: Google has specifically trained models to recognize known attack methods like prompt injection. Additionally, before executing sensitive actions such as sending emails or creating calendar events, a confirmation window will appear first. The action will only proceed after the user confirms, preventing the AI from operating autonomously.

Note that using this feature requires a Google account, and the account’s region must be supported. Free accounts can use it.

Additionally, according to Google’s official announcement, this expansion also uses a gradual rollout method, so it’s not released to all users at once—mine hasn’t received it yet. If you’ve updated Chrome and don’t see the Gemini icon, you’ll need to wait a bit longer.
