Last year, Google launched a feature similar to Apple’s contact cards,Allows Android users to set custom call screens for their contacts. However, compared to Apple’s approach, Google has left out one key element: the ability to create personal cards, but Android will soon fill that gap.

Android will soon let you set up your own phone profile

As early as last October, we noticed that the Google Phone app was preparing to fill this gap with the “My SIM Card” feature, and it now appears that the official launch is just around the corner. Foreign media Android Authority My Calling Card has been successfully and fully enabled in the beta version of Google Phone 204.0.852029473, and we’ve seen the full setup process for the first time.

Based on the information available so far, the entire process is quite intuitive. Users will see the “My Phone Cards” option in the “Phone Cards” section of the Google Phone settings page. After tapping “Create,” the system will first take you to a welcome screen and let you select the Google Account you want to use. Next, you can select photos from your camera, Photos, or Google Photos, and customize the font, font size, and color. If you’ve created phone cards for contacts before, these steps should feel quite familiar.

Once you’re done, you can preview your personal card and decide whether to make it visible to everyone or only to your contacts. The preview screen will also remind you that the image may be cropped depending on the device. Android Authority also notes that if a contact has already set up a phone card for you, your custom “phone card” may not appear on their screen; however, if they haven’t set one up for you, your personal card will be displayed to them when you call them—this is likely to avoid conflicts with existing settings.

Based on the details currently available, “My Calling Card” appears to be very close to its official launch. It was somewhat unexpected that Google chose to launch it as a standalone feature rather than alongside the previous contact cards. However, since the feature is nearly ready, we hope Google will officially launch it as soon as possible.
