With the innovative development of global content-driven e-commerce, YouTube has evolved from a destination for viewing content into the world’s most trusted shopping showcase. In June 2025 alone, there were as many as 4.5 billion shopping-related searches on the platform worldwide. In Taiwan, since the launch of YouTube Shopping in 2024, creators have tagged more than 60,000 videos. According to a Kantar survey, as many as 81% of Taiwanese viewers surveyed agree that creator content on YouTube helps them discover and research products during the shopping process.

YouTube Shopping has partnered with Shopee to create a “seamless shopping” experience, opening up new revenue streams for creators in Taiwan
In addition to the existing brand-owned tagging feature, the YouTube Shopping Partner Program has officially launched in Taiwan in partnership with Shopee, enabling creators without their own brands to leverage YouTube’s community trust and Shopee’s robust e-commerce infrastructure, reducing friction for viewers in the journey “from inspiration to action,” and making it easier to turn genuine passion into passive income. Through deep integration with Shopee, this initiative blurs the line between “watching” and “buying,” creating an interconnected, mutually beneficial digital consumer ecosystem for Taiwanese creators, small and medium-sized enterprises, and consumers alike.
- An Uninterrupted Viewing Experience
While watching videos, Shorts, or live streams, viewers can simply tap the shopping button to browse products on Shopee and place orders in a “picture-in-picture” window—without ever having to leave the video. - Precise Product Labeling
With just a few simple clicks in YouTube Studio, creators can tag products from Shopee. - The Potential of Shorts for Driving Sales
Data shows that Shorts featuring shopping stickers have a click-through rate more than 40% higher than those with just a shopping button.

Over the past year, the total number of hours spent watching shopping-related videos on YouTube worldwide has exceeded 35 billion; in Taiwan, YouTube is the preferred platform for over 18 million adult viewers to access information, with an average daily viewing time of 115 minutes. Data shows that as many as 79% of Taiwanese viewers believe YouTube helps them make more confident purchasing decisions.

The YouTube Shopping Partner Program has achieved impressive results in the United States, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and India; Taiwan, with its highly mature digital ecosystem and thriving creator community, has already demonstrated remarkable potential during the pilot phase from November 19 to December 31 of last year. More than 60 active channels in Taiwan participating in the Shopping Partner Program generated approximately 9,000 successful transactions in just 42 days.

According to Shopee’s observations, video content has become a key factor in consumer decision-making. 64% of users go online to watch video content, and 80% rely on video content to make purchasing decisions. Furthermore, 80% of Taiwan’s Gen Z shoppers are heavily influenced by KOLs, and trust in content is directly impacting their purchasing behavior. For sellers, this shift allows them to move away from traditional one-way advertising and upgrade their promotional strategies to video content centered on creator trust, which helps boost conversion rates and sales. For buyers, unboxing videos, product reviews, and situational content created by creators lower the barrier to understanding products, giving them greater confidence when placing orders and reducing the risk of returns. For creators, Shopee is expanding its existing revenue-sharing ecosystem through this partnership, using a dual-revenue-sharing structure to increase incentives for driving sales. Shopee offers creators a revenue share of up to 13.5%, which can be stacked with the revenue share provided by sellers. This transforms creators’ revenue structure from one-time sponsored post income to a sustainable stream of long-term revenue, allowing their content to gradually accumulate into monetizable long-tail assets.

Safety is at the heart of YouTube, which is why the YouTube Shopping Partner Program is currently open only to eligible creators with a proven track record. Additionally, all tagged products must comply with both Google’s and Shopee’s policies to ensure viewers can “watch with confidence and shop with peace of mind.” The requirements for creators to join the YouTube Shopping Partner Program are as follows:
- The channel has at least 5,000 subscribers.
- Channels not tagged as music, artist, or children’s channels.
- Join the YouTube Partner Program.

This in-depth partnership between YouTube Shopping and Shopee will further help local small and medium-sized sellers in Taiwan directly convert creators’ content influence into new customers and orders, successfully riding the wave of content-driven e-commerce to drive tangible revenue growth. YouTube Shopping is not just a shopping tool; it’s also an opportunity for creators to turn their genuine passion into diverse sources of income.
