The official sequel to *Cyberpunk 2077*, developed by CDPR, is currently in full swing, and the sequel to the animated series *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* is set to premiere this fall. However, according to a recent rumor, fans of the series may also have another spin-off to look forward to.

According to a report by the website “MP1st,” a former WayForward employee’s portfolio accidentally revealed a mysterious new title with the development codename “Project Gemini,” and numerous clues suggest that this game is somehow connected to the *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* animated series.

As of now, neither WayForward nor CDPR has revealed any details regarding “Project Gemini,” but related reports suggest that the game has been in development since 2025 and will be a “2.5D side-scrolling action game” . It is also reported to utilize technologies such as a “rollback safety mechanism” and “online transmission integration,” suggesting that the game will include online gameplay features.
In addition, related reports mention that WayForward had another unannounced licensed title in development using Unreal Engine 5, but production on that project was halted in September 2025.

WayForward’s catalog has long consisted primarily of licensed titles and side-scrolling action games, such as *River City Girls*, but its most iconic IP remains the *Shantae* series. The studio has also developed licensed titles such as *Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp*, *Contra 4*, and *The Mummy: Demastered*.
As for when this new title will be officially unveiled, fans can perhaps look forward to an announcement at the Gamescom in late August. Many fans also believe the game might be released around the time the second season of *Cyberpunk: Edge Runners* officially premieres, capitalizing on the buzz surrounding the sequel to this popular animated series,
