LINE held its annual press conference, “LINE CONVERGE 2026,” today (10/13), under the theme “Connect the Next,” looking back on its 15-year journey of deep cultivation in Taiwan. Chairman and CEO Chen Li-jen announced that the next phase will center on “Life on LINE with AI,” seamlessly integrating Agentic AI into familiar services, allowing users to naturally assign tasks and opening up a new ecosystem strategy.

LINE Turns 15! Opening a New Blueprint for Life with “Agentic AI”—A Look at Three Major Upgrade Highlights
AI Agents are entering chatrooms and business scenarios, and official brand accounts are about to enter the AI agent era.
LINE’s latest data shows that Taiwanese users make an average of 2.6 voice and video calls per day, lasting 20.2 minutes and 23.5 minutes respectively; LINE Communities also has 13.5 million monthly active users, indicating that “non-acquaintance social networking” is highly active.

To further upgrade the communication experience, LINE has teased the launch of an “AI Agent Chatroom Assistant” that can answer questions in groups, organize tasks into Notes, extract event information and add it to calendars, categorize photos in albums, and even offer AI FRIENDS interactions. On the lifestyle side, the first wave focuses on three major scenarios—dining, entertainment, and shopping—providing integrated services such as restaurant reservations, shopping recommendations, and travel planning. In addition, LINE is expected to launch an “AI Agent Platform” in the first quarter of 2027 to help brands build dedicated AI Agents in official accounts, accurately understand customer needs and complete services, and accelerate business conversion.

Strengthening Digital Resilience! “Restricted Network Mode” and Three Major Account Protection Mechanisms Are Launching Soon
In response to extreme scenarios, LINE announced the development of a “Network-Restricted Mode.” When network access is restricted, it will prioritize core functions such as sending and receiving text messages, friend management, and security notifications. At the same time, it is launching three new protections for account security:
- Passkey: Once set up, switching devices only requires biometric verification (fingerprint or face) for quick authentication, with no password needed.
- Optimizing the “Re-login” mechanism: Using your phone number, password, or Apple / Google account verification on your primary phone greatly increases your chances of recovering your account on your own.
- LINE Account Settings Check: Add red, yellow, and green traffic light indicators to “My Account” so users can see their account security level and incomplete settings at a glance.

In fraud prevention, LINE has to date taken action against more than 150,000 fraud-related accounts and has achieved the takedown of phishing websites within 24 hours. At the event, Ma Shih-yuan, commander of the Executive Yuan’s Fraud Combat Command Center, was also invited to attend, and the two sides officially signed an “Anti-Fraud Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)” to deepen public-private collaboration and jointly build a cross-sector security defense line.

LINE Premium teases 6 major new features with a complete interface overhaul.
LINE has embarked on an experience revamp lasting more than a year, with core entry points being upgraded one after another:
- LINE TODAY: Supports both “Large Card” and “List” modes, and introduces AI real-time translation, allowing users to switch between Chinese translations of foreign reports, the original text, and a bilingual side-by-side view.
- LINE Home: Upgraded into a “Smart Life Hub,” offering “Key Alerts” for updates and schedule reminders, plus “Smart Discovery,” which uses AI to accurately curate trending topics.
- LINE Premium Membership Service: Following “Unsend Without a Trace,” 6 major features—”Edit Message,” “Silent Message,” “Call Recording,” “Scheduled Messages,” “Trace-Free Preview,” and “Mark as Read Later”—are expected to roll out between Q4 2026 and the first half of 2027, creating a more flexible communication experience.
