Google today officially announced the new Fitbit Edge fitness tracker, positioned between the recently launched Fitbit Air and the flagship Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch. Fitbit Edge combines advanced fitness tracking, AI-powered smart health coaching, and practical smartwatch features in a slim, lightweight body, with excellent battery life of up to 7 days.

Google officially unveils Fitbit Edge, a smart wearable that sits between a watch and a band.
Major Screen Upgrade and Slim, Lightweight Design
Fitbit Edge is designed to fully replace the previous Fitbit Charge series. The front of the device features the largest and brightest fitness tracker display Google has ever made, with a 46% increase in viewable area over the previous generation. This hybrid OLED display lets users freely customize watch faces and includes redesigned physical side buttons for more intuitive and convenient operation.
In terms of design, the Fitbit Edge is only 11.5 mm thick, and Google officially states that it is 45% lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12, greatly reducing the burden of wearing it for long periods. The all-new on-device interface uses a clean, clear Tiles visual presentation, making it easy for users to quickly view daily steps, heart rate changes, sleep quality, and various health metrics. In addition, the product supports Google Maps navigation, media playback controls, and real-time notifications for calls and text messages, fully meeting everyday smart living needs.

Fully evolved fitness and health tracking features
To meet the needs of fitness enthusiasts everywhere, Fitbit Edge has received several significant upgrades in its professional tracking capabilities:
- Advanced workout modes with real-time coaching: Built-in support for over 50 exercise modes, providing real-time heart rate zone, running pace, and split data guidance during workouts.
- High-precision built-in GPS: The upgraded built-in GPS positioning accuracy is 40% better than the previous generation, and it can accurately record exercise routes even without a smartphone connection.
- Smart AI Automatic Workout Detection: Built with AI algorithms, it can automatically recognize and classify up to 100 different types of workouts and training modes.
- Advanced health monitoring matrix: integrating an electrocardiogram (ECG) app, continuous heart rate tracking, skin temperature sensing, deep sleep analysis, and heart rate variability (HRV) measurement.
- Proactive “Health Guardian” feature: It continuously tracks blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and abnormal heart rate patterns, helping users receive early warnings and gain deeper insight into health changes within their bodies.

Exclusive AI health coach, fast charging, and modular repair architecture
As the market expected, Fitbit Edge deeply integrates Google’s new AI Health Coach, and users can unlock this feature through a Google Health Premium subscription. The system can intelligently analyze users’ long-term health trends, provide tailored health improvement recommendations, and dynamically adjust the most suitable fitness plan based on daily activity and physical recovery data.
For power and battery life management, the Fitbit Edge supports efficient fast charging, providing a full day of battery life with just 5 minutes of charging. Its water resistance is rated to 50 meters (5 ATM), so it handles swimming or outdoor workouts in the rain with ease. Notably, this is also Google’s first fitness tracker to emphasize “repairability,” featuring a modular internal design and a replaceable battery, greatly extending the product’s lifespan and environmental sustainability.

Google Fitbit Edge is available for pre-order starting today, with an official suggested retail price of $179.99, and is expected to officially ship starting October 27. It will initially be available in four textured colorways: Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon Green.
