Apple has officially rolled out iOS 27 to iPhone users worldwide, more than three months after it first debuted at the 2026 WWDC developers conference. After opening the developer beta in June and launching the public beta in July, the new system is now officially releasing its stable version, arriving shortly after the announcement of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

iOS 27 is now available, featuring Siri AI, faster AirDrop, and Liquid Glass improvements
iOS 27 brings several major updates, including a new Siri AI, faster App launches and AirDrop transfer speeds, a further improved Liquid Glass interface design, upgraded parental controls, and a number of detail improvements that enhance everyday use. Apple said the update has been made available for download on all eligible devices at the same time.
Siri AI becomes the biggest highlight of iOS 27
The most anticipated feature in this update is undoubtedly the newly upgraded Siri AI. Built on the next generation of Apple Intelligence technology, this intelligent assistant can understand users’ personal contextual information in apps such as Mail, Messages, and Photos, and interact and respond based on the current screen content. In addition to answering questions related to what’s on the screen, Siri AI can also search the web for information and perform tasks across apps, delivering a smarter and more coherent experience.

In addition, Apple also launched a standalone Siri app that supports privately syncing conversation history via iCloud. Apple Intelligence’s capabilities also extend to several native apps; for example, Photos adds spatial reconstruction, image expansion, and advanced cleanup tools, while Safari can organize tabs by topic and proactively notify users when web content changes.

However, Siri AI is still in beta and initially only supports English. Apple plans to add support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish in October. In addition, because Siri AI requires Apple Intelligence hardware support, some older models will not be able to use all AI features even if they upgrade to iOS 27.
Performance upgrades become the most noticeable evolution.
In addition to AI features, performance improvements are also one of the core focuses of iOS 27. According to Apple’s official data, app launch speeds can increase by up to 30%, image loading after camera capture can be up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfer speeds can increase by up to 80%. At the same time, system search features such as Spotlight, Photos, and Mail have also been further optimized.
In terms of interface design, Liquid Glass adds an adjustable transparency slider, allowing users to freely adjust the visual effect, from high transparency to fully tinted. In addition, the app icons have been redesigned, making the overall visuals sharper and clearer.

Photos, AirPods, and Health Features Get Simultaneous Upgrades
iOS 27 also brings updates to multiple system features. iCloud Shared Albums now support full-resolution photo sharing and make it easier for Android and Windows users to join shared content. AirPods add a custom equalizer feature, allowing users to adjust audio performance to their personal preferences. The Health app further strengthens women’s health features, adding perimenopause and menopause-related support to cycle tracking, providing more comprehensive health management information.

Supported models remain unchanged.
For users still using older iPhones, there’s also good news this year. Apple hasn’t dropped any previously supported models with iOS 27. As long as a device can currently run iOS 26, it can be upgraded to iOS 27, including models such as the iPhone 11 series and the second-generation iPhone SE, all of which are on the support list.
