Vivo product manager Han Boxiao, who is often the one to break the news about his own products, announced two new mobile phone teleconverter products jointly developed by Vivo and Zeiss on Weibo yesterday: “Cannon 400” and “Lipstick 200”. These two accessories are vivo’s latest masterpieces in the field of mobile imaging. They are specially designed to be used with the 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens of the X300 Ultra, aiming to further expand the limits of the phone’s telephoto capabilities.

Vivo Han Boxiao announces two mobile phone teleconverters “Cannon 400” and “Lipstick 200”
The driving force behind this announcement is Han Boxiao, product manager of vivo Communication Technology Co., Ltd. According to public information, Han Boxiao is mainly responsible for the product planning and research and development of vivo X series smartphones, and has accumulated rich experience in the field of mobile imaging.
In 2024, Han Boxiao led the imaging system upgrade of the vivo X200 series, proposed a D-CUT-less module design, and promoted industry innovative solutions such as full-focal three-lens OIS anti-shake, setting a new standard for smartphone imaging. In 2025, he will further lead the joint definition of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip and deepen vivo’s integrated layout of self-developed chips and mobile imaging.
Han Boxiao also led the development of the vivo X200 Ultra, which he called “the most powerful scenery shooting artifact in the history of mobile phones.” The two teleconverters released this time can be regarded as the continuation and further evolution of the X series imaging system.
Han Boxiao once posted a PO to compare the appearance and size of these two new teleconverters with the vivo Zeiss 2.35x teleconverter previously used on the X300 Pro. It can be seen that the two new lenses are positioned just before and after the 2.35x teleconverter, each targeting different user positions.

Flagship professional telephoto: Cannon 400
The flagship product released this time is the “Zeiss teleconverter G2 Ultra” (hereinafter referred to as the Cannon 400), which is positioned for high-magnification, professional telephoto purposes. According to the official specifications, the Cannon 400 provides an optical magnification of an equivalent focal length of 400mm, which is equivalent to a 17.4x optical zoom of a 23mm main camera, and can output 200 million pixels of optical straight-out image quality.
In terms of anti-shake performance, the Cannon 400 can still maintain CIPA 4.5 level anti-shake capability after installation, supports 3° optical anti-shake function, and is equipped with a Blueprint 60fps high-brush focus tracking system. Officials claim that imaging is stable even in 1600mm equivalent super telephoto scenes.
Lightweight and portable daily telephoto: Lipstick 200
Another product, “Zeiss Teleconverter G2” (hereinafter referred to as Lipstick 200), is lightweight and portable, suitable for daily telephoto scenes. This is the second-generation 200mm teleconverter launched by vivo. It weighs only 153g, which is 27% lighter than the previous generation. At the same time, the number of lenses has been increased from 13 in the previous generation to 15 to improve image quality.
Lipstick 200 is equipped with CIPA 6.5 level anti-shake capability and adopts a mini-size design that combines portability and shooting quality. Both teleconverters support 14 shooting modes, and add new shooting functions such as Live Photo, dual-field video recording, and Chinese-American photo recording.
Zeiss master lens group achieves full focal length coverage
With the launch of these two teleconverters, the Zeiss master lens group currently covers five key focal lengths: 14mm, 35mm, 85mm, 200mm, and 400mm, achieving complete coverage from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto. This also means that vivo X300 Ultra users can get a more comprehensive selection of focal lengths in different shooting scenarios.

The launch of the 400mm teleconverter breaks the record for the longest focal length of an external lens for a mobile phone, symbolizing a major breakthrough for smartphones in the telephoto field. In addition, vivo maintains a high level of anti-shake technology in the design of the teleconverter, which can maintain stable shooting performance even after adding an external lens, which is crucial for telephoto scenes.

Market significance and technical value
The release of these two teleconverters has multiple implications for the smartphone imaging market. First of all, the 400mm focal length breaks through the upper magnification limit of previous mobile phone external lenses, setting a new technical benchmark for mobile telephoto. Secondly, the full focal length coverage from 14mm ultra-wide angle to 400mm super telephoto allows users to meet diverse shooting needs on a single device.
In terms of balance between lightweight and professionalism, the design of Lipstick 200 demonstrates vivo’s technical strength. By reducing the weight by 27% and increasing the number of lenses, the optical quality and anti-shake performance are improved while maintaining portability to meet users’ daily telephoto needs.
It is worth noting that the specific price and launch time of these two teleconverters have not yet been announced. In addition, the CIPA anti-shake level is official laboratory data, and the actual shooting performance still needs to be verified by real tests of commercially available versions. In addition, it is not yet known whether these two lenses and the X300 Ultra will be launched in Taiwan. Everything is awaiting the official announcement from vivo Taiwan.
