When converting a large number of documents to PDF, taking photos one by one with a phone often leads to issues with angles, shadows, and clarity of small text, while traditional all-in-one printers take up space and are inconvenient to carry around. This time, I actually used the ScanPad 100 Pro to test its automatic document correction, continuous scanning, OCR text recognition, 4K video visualizer, and AI vision applications after integrating with Codex.

ScanPad 100 Pro weighs only 690 grams when folded.
ScanPad 100 Pro measures 355 × 68 × 51mm when folded and weighs 690 grams. When unfolded, it measures 355 × 256 × 272mm and can capture full A4 documents. Once the scanning arm is unfolded, the camera points directly downward, so you can lay a document flat on the base pad and start shooting—no need to repeatedly adjust the angle like you would with a phone. The body features a USB Type-C interface, a 16-megapixel camera, up to 380 dpi scan resolution, 4K video recording, and a three-level fill light.
Automatic alignment, continuous scanning, and real-world OCR testing
When documents are not aligned properly, automatic mode recognizes the paper boundaries and straightens them. For batch processing, you can set the number of shots and the interval in seconds; after each page is captured, simply swap in the next one. This is suitable for batch digitizing contracts, insurance application forms, receipts, and historical documents. In continuous shooting mode, it takes a while to get the hang of the page-changing rhythm, so it’s recommended to leave a generous interval to avoid capturing fingers or pages that haven’t been placed properly.
For the OCR test, I used Japanese content for recognition, and the actual recognition rate was over 90%. When using it, you need to select the correct document language first. Currently, the OCR function mainly supports the Windows platform; the ScanPad 100 Pro itself also needs to be connected to a computer to use.
It can also serve as a 4K document camera and AI eyes.
In recording mode, the ScanPad 100 Pro can serve as an overhead video document camera for showcasing handouts, craft processes, products, or artwork. The software can also activate a second camera to record both the presenter and the desk content simultaneously, making it ideal for teachers, instructors, and livestream creators.
The latter part of the video demonstrates another way to use it. I built a simple MCP for Codex that sends the ScanPad screen to AI for recognition, letting Codex read Japanese textbooks, explain differences between words, and also translate content from foreign-language books. This application turns a fixed top-down camera into AI’s visual input, and when the text is too small, you can adjust the view before recognition.
Who is better suited for the ScanPad 100 Pro?
If you only scan one or two documents a day, your phone’s built-in scanning feature is already sufficient. The ScanPad 100 Pro is better suited for students, graduate students, business professionals, insurance agents, and office workers who frequently handle multi-page documents. Teachers, craft instructors, livestreamers, and creators who need to digitize paper works for post-processing on a computer can also take advantage of its fixed top-down capture and dual-lens features.
