“Tubly Downloader” is a browser extension designed specifically for downloading YouTube videos and music. To confirm whether the extension installation file is safe, I first checked it with four tools. Three were online virus scanners: VirusTotal, Internxt, and Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal, all of which returned no issues. The fourth was Codex, which also reported no obvious trojans, cryptominers, keyloggers, or arbitrary executables. However, because it has highly sensitive permissions and some of its behavior is determined by Tubly’s servers, it’s not recommended to install it in your primary Chrome profile where you’re logged in.
Here I’ll use Chrome as an example. First, you need to turn on “Developer mode” for extensions.
Next, drag the Tubly downloader file you just downloaded and extracted into Chrome. A prompt will appear asking if you want to add it. Click “Add extension”:

When you open the YouTube video you want to download, you’ll see an extra download button below, with format options on the left:
In the free version, I tested that you can download one 1080p or 720p video per day, while 480p and below is unlimited.
