At the end of last year, LINE announced the upcoming launch of the “LINE Premium” subscription plan in Taiwan, which aroused many discussions among users. Today (3/17) Zhang Jingwen, executive general manager of LINE Taiwan’s portal and content business group, further confirmed that this new strategy will be available to everyone soon, and is expected to be officially launched in the next one or two weeks.

Following Japan and Thailand, Taiwan’s LINE Premium service is ready. Once the iOS application passes Apple’s review, it will be available to users immediately. According to previously disclosed information, Taiwan’s LINE Premium subscription fee is NT$165 per month, and a free trial is provided for the first month, allowing users to experience the upgraded features first.
The first wave of LINE Premium will bring five advanced features, aiming to solve the long-term pain points faced by users such as expired chat backup, inconvenient cross-device transfer, and identity management. These features include advanced backup, album upgrades, invisible message recovery, and multiple personalization settings, such as exclusive app icons and fonts.
- Advanced backup: no text limit, complete save
Advanced backup not only supports text messages, but also photos, videos, files and voice messages in chat rooms can be automatically backed up to the LINE cloud to avoid being inaccessible due to backup expiration. The backup capacity can be up to 100GB and supports cross-system transfer. Whether it is iOS or Android, backup data can be easily imported. - Invisible message recovery: No records will be left after recovery
Another highly anticipated feature is “Incognito Message Retrieval”. In the past, when you retracted a message, the chat room would leave a prompt of “XXX has retracted the message.” After joining LINE Premium, as long as you retract it before the other party reads it, no trace will be left. - Photo album upgrade: videos can be saved directly, and photos support original quality
The synchronization function of the photo album has been enhanced. Users can save videos to the LINE photo album directly from the chat room, and can also upload original quality photos. LINE albums can store up to 100 videos (each has a maximum limit of 5 minutes or 200MB), and a total of 1,000 photos and videos can be saved. - Self-selected profile: Make life more pure
LINE Premium’s “Choose Profile” feature allows users to create two additional different profiles, such as work, friend or family profiles, and customize the displayed photo and nickname. - LINE Premium More personalized settings
