“Pokémon Pokopia”, co-created by The Pokémon Company and Koei Tecmo, sparked a phenomenal response among players after its launch earlier this month. This derivative work broke away from the traditional RPG battle development of the “Pokémon” series and switched to life simulation and sandbox creation similar to “Animal Crossing” and “Minecraft”. Since this game focuses on the cooperation between Pokémon, players have gradually come up with various unexpected ways to play.

In “Pokémon Pokopia”, the Variety Monster played by the player can use props and materials to build a habitat, thereby attracting various other Pokémon to live there. These Pokémon have their own specialties, and some can assist the player in producing resources. For example, the fire Pokémon can use the stove to make various building materials, the flying mantis can cut wood, and the brittle sheep will drop wool.

When players bring Pokémon near the corresponding device, they will happily start “working”, even if they dig them up in the middle of the night for this purpose, they will not complain at all. Therefore, players gradually discovered a more efficient way to play, which is to imprison these Pokémon in facilities used to produce and collect resources, directly forming a living environment like a sweatshop, which is reminiscent of “Phantom Pallu”.

In the screen shared by a player, you can see that he “locked” all the fire Pokémon in a facility in the town, allowing them to operate the incinerator 24 hours a day to refine ores and other materials. However, this workshop has no sunlight, no way to interact with other Pokémon, and is directly connected to Charmander and Charmander’s homes, which means they pretty much live here.

Another player also built a relatively “friendly” facility to collect materials such as the wool of the Bili sheep, the smelly garbage, and the fallen leaves of the Bulbasaur flower. Of course, they are definitely not locked up inside – definitely not a prison where precious resources are gathered together for easy collection. Twitter user nanapercent directly designed a completely automated facility that uses water flow to collect and concentrate the resources dropped by Pokémon so that players can collect them at once.
ついにぽこあポケモンで完全自動型素材収集所が完成しました!

Although “Pokémon Pokopia” does track the comfort level of Pokémon in residence, players basically only need to meet some of their needs, such as providing food, adding designated objects to the habitat, or improving the environment, and their satisfaction will increase. As for long-term overwork, they do not seem to care too much.
