If you are planning to change your Mac recently, you can first make a decision by referring to Apple’s Mac upgrade blueprint for the next three years revealed by foreign media. Reports indicate that Apple has planned its Mac product roadmap for the next few years. From MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, MacBook Neo, all the way to iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio, almost all will be updated, covering as many as 11 new machines.

Apple’s super-large Mac blueprint exposed! OLED touch MacBook, M6/M7 new machines scheduled all the way to 2028
According to new revelations from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the most anticipated product in the entire blueprint should be the new high-end MacBook Pro expected to be launched from the end of 2026 to early 2027. Apple is testing two sizes, 14-inch and 16-inch. In addition to switching to an OLED panel, it will also add touch functionality. If it comes true, this will be Apple’s first Mac notebook that can directly operate the screen with fingers.
Compared with the mini-LED display currently used in MacBook Pro, OLED allows each pixel to emit its own light, so blacks can be displayed deeper, and contrast and response speed can also be further improved. This will be a more meaningful upgrade for users who edit HDR videos, process photos, or simply like to watch TV shows.
Apple is said to have been testing these new machines using macOS 27.1, which is expected to be launched at the end of October. Since Mac has been mainly operated by trackpad, mouse and keyboard in the past, after adding touch screen, whether the button size, gestures and window operations of macOS will be adjusted accordingly will also be a major focus of this revision.
What’s more special is that this batch of OLED touch models is rumored to be equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max, rather than the yet-to-be-released M6. The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to be equipped with the basic M6 chip.
In other words, Apple’s MacBook Pro product line may see a staggered generation of chips, with the entry-level models using M6 and the high-end new design models still using M5 Pro/Max.
In addition to laptops, Apple is also preparing to launch two new iMacs this fall.
Development work on the new iMac and M6 entry-level MacBook Pro is said to be complete, but Apple won’t officially ship them until the fall.
Bloomberg also revealed the next generation MacBook Neo version, which is said to be upgraded to A19 Pro and increase the memory capacity. However, it is not specified exactly how much, but if it is increased, it will have the opportunity to improve multitasking and memory-intensive AI operations.
Apple also plans to regularly update the colors of MacBook Neo. The current version is available in silver, blush pink, green orange and indigo. The new color strategy is not only to improve recognition, but also to make this affordable Mac closer to the consumer product rhythm of iPhone and iPad.
After entering 2027, Apple is expected to update the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air at the beginning of the year. The appearance of this generation should be similar to the current model. The processor has not yet been confirmed, but foreign media believe that it is likely to use M6.
Apple is also developing another redesigned 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro, which is expected to be equipped with the basic version M7 in 2027. The appearance will be closer to the aforementioned high-end OLED model. By the end of 2027 to early 2028, high-end products will be further upgraded to M7 Pro and M7 Max.
Desktop Macs are more complicated. Apple is testing Mac minis with M5 Pro, the base M6, and Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra, but their release times and final memory configurations depend on the supply of memory chips.
Bloomberg pointed out that Mac mini and Mac Studio have been driven by the demand for native AI work in recent years, and orders for some current models even have to wait at least three months. If memory supply continues to be tight, Apple may delay the launch or adjust the optional memory capacity even if it has completed processor and host testing. Therefore, for readers who want to wait for the desktop update, the most difficult thing to grasp at this stage is not the performance, but when it will be available normally.
As for the OLED MacBook Air, Bloomberg said it may debut as early as 2028. The OLED iMac is also under development, but will be launched after the MacBook Air.
