As one of more than 500 million contributors, the real photos, reviews, and videos you share help others decide with greater confidence where to go and what to do next. To make it easier for you to share your opinions, Google is rolling out three new updates to Maps.

Quickly find and share your favorite moments
The photos and videos you share can give others a better idea of a place, like its atmosphere or its latest menu, and now Google makes it easier to pick the right content. If you have enabled media access for Google Maps on your phone, photos and videos of your recent experiences will appear directly in the “Contribute” tab, and you can publish them with one click. The photo and video recommendations feature is available globally on Android and will expand to iOS in the coming months.
Prepare headlines in advance with Gemini
Photo captions can add critical context to an image, but finding the right words is often difficult. To make it easier for you to get started, Google provides draft descriptions using the Gemini model. After selecting a photo, Gemini will analyze the image and generate suggested text, which you can freely edit or delete. Caption suggestions are currently available on iOS in the United States (with English support) and will expand to other regions and Android devices around the world in the coming months.
See the impact of your individual contributions
Google also makes tracking your contributions on Maps more intuitive. Your points total will now appear directly in the Contributions tab, and Local Guides levels will be more prominently displayed on your profile page. At the same time, Google has updated the achievement badges, allowing you to see at a glance whether you are an information collector, a photography expert, or a fast-growing star.
If you’re looking for trustworthy opinions when browsing comments, Google has added a gold profile badge to help you more easily identify high-level contributors. The updates are gradually rolling out globally and are available on Android, iOS, and desktop platforms.
