MyVideo, a streaming platform owned by Taiwan Mobile, announced that it will launch a new “MyVideo TV” service on August 1. The first wave will gather 37 TV channels, allowing users to have both on-demand viewing and real-time TV viewing modes in the same application. From August 1st to September 30th, all registered members of MyVideo can experience TV channel services for free. According to data released by Taiwan News, the number of live broadcast viewers jumped six times after the sports live broadcast went online, and the number of paid members increased by nearly 20% compared with the same period last year. After enjoying the benefits of sports live broadcast, MyVideo then moved in TV channels, moving towards the goal of “one-stop audio and video entrance”.
Sports live broadcast drives 6 times growth, MyVideo takes advantage of the situation to add TV channels
In the past, MyVideo was positioned towards OTT on-demand video, and its film library mainly focused on movies, dramas, and animations. After joining the live broadcast of sports events such as the Chinese Professional Baseball League in March this year, the usage behavior of the platform has changed significantly. The number of live broadcast viewers has increased 6 times compared with before the launch, and the number of paid members has increased by nearly 20% in several years, showing that the effect of real-time content on user stickiness far exceeds expectations.
This growth momentum prompted MyVideo to decide to complete the TV channel puzzle. In the past, users who wanted to watch real-time news or TV programs had to open Hami Video, cable TV apps or other live broadcast platforms. The launch of MyVideo TV allows users to switch between “watching movies on demand” and “watching TV in real time” within the same app, without having to jump back and forth.

Current Affairs and Finance: Domestic channels include Dongsen News Channel, Sanli iNEWS, FTV News Channel, Mirror TV News Channel, and Dongsen Financial News; international channels include Bloomberg TV, CNBC Asia, and NHK News Information Channel. For users who follow financial trends, the addition of Bloomberg TV and CNBC Asia is a rare bright spot. In the past, these two channels were not common on Taiwan’s OTT platforms.
sports events: MyVideo TV provides live broadcast of the home games of the four Chinese Professional Baseball teams, including the home games of the Fubon Titans, Weiquan Dragons, and Uni-President 7-ELEVEn Lions, which can be watched directly on the platform, and the home games of Lotte Peach Monkeys can be watched through DAZN. The Chinese Professional Baseball League has been a hot topic this year, and the championship battle in the second half of the season is in full swing. It is quite attractive content for baseball fans. In addition, the platform also integrates overseas event resources such as Japanese professional baseball, international tennis and golf.
home entertainment: The channel lineup includes MOMO parent-child channel, BBC Player series, and CI crime investigation channel, covering children’s programs, British drama series and documentary content, targeting the viewing needs of different age groups.
Taiwan University stated that it will continue to expand its channel lineup in the future, but it has not yet announced the charging method after the free trial ends. For users who are already paid members of MyVideo, the TV channel service is a new feature without a price increase; for users who have not yet subscribed, the two-month free trial period also provides sufficient trial time.
