Teach you how to upgrade Chromecast with Google TV in advance and get the latest Home user interface of Google TV Streamer

Envious of the new Google TV Streamer’s new interface for controlling smart home devices? In the latest official Google description, they have also officially opened the “Google Home Control Panel” that was originally limited to new Google TV Streamer devices to the old version of Chromecast with Google TV – well, the Chinese version description page has not been updated, but the English version page has been added.

After knowing this good news, are you eager to enable this function on your Chromecast with Google TV as soon as possible? So this article will teach you how to activate such a function in advance.

How to upgrade Chromecast with Google TV in advance to support the latest Google Home panel

Foreign media 9to5Google shared how to enable the latest Google Home panel support in Chromecast with Google TV in advance. First, you need to go to the bottom of the “Settings” in the lower right corner of the iOS and Android versions of the Google Home app. Look for the option “Public Beta: Manage and provide feedback on pre-release features.” After clicking in, you can select “Join Public Beta”.

Theoretically, after joining the public beta, you should be able to see the latest home control panel after updating the system. If you want to start, you can refer to the official step-by-step instructions:

  1. Click the Settings icon at the top of the Google TV screen to open the quick settings dashboard.
  2. Click “Settings” next to the profile icon“Account and Login”“User Profile”「Google Home」。
  3. clickTurn icon on/off to enable or disable Google TV’s home control panel.

Note that there are a few conditions you must meet in order to see the Home Control Panel. Like:

  • You must have a valid Google TV profile and be the owner or member of a home in the Google Home app. Child profiles do not support operating the home control panel.
  • Google TV devices must be set to standard mode (not application-only or basic mode).
  • The Home Control Panel must be enabled before this feature can be used on Google TV.
  • Google TV and the user profile must belong to the same household.
  • In addition to Google TV, there must be at least one smart home device.
  • Requires Google TV Streamer (4K) and Chromecast with Google TV devices.

  5. Repeat the above steps for “Ambient mode” applications.
  6. From the Google TV home screen, select All Settings.
  7. Click “Applications” > “View All Apps” > “Show System Apps”.
  8. Click “Ambient Mode” > “Clear Data” > “OK”.
  9. Click “Force Stop” > “OK”.
