Google AI photo retouching tools will be fully available to all Google Photos users! Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, and Magic Photo Retouch are no longer limited to subscribers

“If you take the photos of the iPhone 14 Pro with the light imaging engine and use it with Pixel 7 “Unblur”, it will be called the most powerful computational photography work in 2022 (laughs)” – This isUnder review by Computer King Ada teamWhat a joke, I can’t believe that in 2024, even the necessary requirements for a Pixel phone have been removed!

Following the phased opening of the “Magic Eraser” originally limited to Pixel phones to Google One subscribers. Google announced today that even the “Magic Editor” and even “Photo Unblur” and “Portrait Light” originally introduced on the Pixel 8 series will be gradually opened to all Google Photos users on May 15.

That’s right, not only Android users, but also iOS users can enjoy it (but there are still basic hardware limitations, which will be mentioned later)!

Previously available to Google One subscribers through the Google Photos App, the Magic Eraser function allows you to easily remove unwanted objects or even people in photos by simply using your fingers to select them, as well as the image quality enhancement feature Photo Unblur introduced in the Pixel 7 series. Even the Magic Photo Retouch Tool, one of Google’s AI photo retouching tools newly launched in the Pixel 8 series, uses generative artificial intelligence technology.

It will be gradually opened to all users of Google Photos on Android and iOS.

In terms of software and hardware limitations, these functions require at least Android 8.0 or above and iOS 15 or above. In terms of hardware requirements, it basically requires a 64-bit model and a model with at least 3GB of RAM to be used.

Additionally, it is fully open to all users. However, the “Magic Photo Retouching Tool” opened this time in the Google AI photo editing tool is for free users other than Google One “Advanced Edition (currently limited to 2TB or above)” subscribers and Pixel users. There will be a “storage” limit of 10 photos per month – it seems that it will not be counted before choosing to save? This will not be confirmed until 5/15 when it is gradually opened.

Speaking of which, Google’s new strategy can be regarded as giving Pixel users relatively preferential rights in the form of unlimited use of AI editing functions from the originally canceled Google Photos unlimited capacity discount. In this way, you can continue to attract more users to choose your cloud services by opening functions to all users in stages. Speaking of which, it seems that we can also expect that Magic Eraser including Best Take and audio versions will also have the opportunity to be gradually released over time?
