LINE is the most commonly used social networking software among Chinese people, and any system change regulations will become the focus of attention. Recently, Taiwan Line has announced three changes. Among them, the old version cannot send messages and calls, and message recycling has been shortened to one hour. This is a major change for Taiwan LINE users.
The following is a summary of recent official announcements from LINE. Major changes and matters that must be noted:

1. The old version of LINE cannot send messages and make calls:
Starting from early November 2025, LINE will terminate support for app versions below 13.20.0. If the device cannot update the LINE App to version 13.21.0 or above, it will no longer be able to use LINE to send messages or make voice/video calls.
Mobile phones/tablets/watch devices (need to install LINE 13.21.0 or above) must be upgraded to the following specified version list:
A. iPhone/iPad: The operating system must be upgraded to iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or above.
B.Apple Watch: Watch OS 8.0 or above
C. Android device: The operating system must be upgraded to at least Android 8.0 or above.

2.Line message recycling is shortened to less than one hour:
Starting from December 2025, Taiwan Line will change the operating rules for “recovering messages” from the original 24 hours of sending to “within 1 hour.” This means that once an hour has elapsed since a message was sent, it cannot be retrieved.

3. The end of service for Chrome version of LINE has been extended to the first half of 2026
In order to help all users use LINE services smoothly, the end of service for the Chrome version of LINE will be postponed from September 22, 2025 (Monday) to the first half of 2026.
