Reportedly, Gemini Live will support file processing features, unexpectedly revealing that voice experience will become the future direction of Google’s core experience?

The Gemini Live generative AI voice feature, which supports advanced conversational capabilities similar to those introduced with ChatGPT 4o, allowing for more natural voice interactions such as freely interrupting, interjecting, and changing topics, has also recently been fullyOpen to all Android users, and has even already been in some countries and regionsStarted the app push notification for the iOS version.。

It now appears that Google isn’t just trying to catch up with OpenAI’s creativity in natural voice—it may even be looking to surpass what most people imagine, making voice features the center of the experience?

Recently, foreign media uncovered a potential future feature support direction for Gemini Live in a Google app by digging into APK files.

Basically, it can be seen from the code and the text descriptions in the app. After you upload a file in the Gemini interface, the system may in the future guide you to open Gemini Live to process the file.

It mentions terms such as “Open Live,” “Open Live with attachment,” and “Talk about attachment.”

Honestly, the ability to upload or attach Google Drive files for analysis has long been nothing new for Gemini Advanced subscribers. However, prompting users to switch to Gemini Live is a rather novel “approach.”

This also invites speculation that Google may think it can branch out into another new development path starting from voice features – or that it wants to fight back against the aggressive offensives of other generative AI competitors in terms of innovative experiences.

That said, rather than consolidating its dominance in search through new features like AI Overviews to prevent all the brands aggressively pushing generative AI search from encroaching on Google Search’s share, perhaps actively seeking a new meaning for “Googling” in this new era is the better way out of the quagmire.

Thinking from this perspective, this direction seems quite close to the spirit of the “Just Ask” slogan at this year’s Google I/O, following “Google will do the Googling for you.”

That said, since this feature isn’t available for testing yet, we still can’t know what kind of different experience advanced file processing through Gemini Live will bring – personally, I’d guess this might just be one of many new experiences coming to Gemini Live in the future.

In fact, based on previous Gemini Advanced experience, when encountering commands that require modifying files, it’s clear that you would still need to switch to the traditional user interface.

And just on this point alone, I personally can’t help but think that maybe this means Gemini Live will have an advanced AI interactive experience that combines voice and visual interfaces in the future?

Of course, all of this is just wild speculation. In reality, how Google will use Gemini Live to compete with rivals and bring new features—we’ll have to wait for further official announcements to know for sure. Still, I’m personally really looking forward to it.

After all, before the Google AI Overviews experience officially arrives in Taiwan, such as Felo Search Such excellent AI search engines have already actively taken over my “Googling” usage. In the face of these strong new competitors, Google has very quickly responded with improvements to its search experience.

Indeed, Google will really need to come up with some new ideas if it hopes to maintain its dominant position.
