The author actually tested the Pixel 7 Pro in my hand, but unfortunately I still haven’t received this feature. However, it is said that this picture-in-picture experience is similar to the experience of jumping out of the app during playback. But if we look carefully, we will find that the information bar and play button that were listed at the same time in the mini player in the app will still appear at the bottom of the picture-in-picture screen. The arrangement is also different from the previous mini-player, which is displayed in a strip across the left and right of the screen.
To be honest, after seeing this interface change, I personally feel that YouTube should want to unify the “in-app” and “out-of-app” playback experiences. It’s also unclear if this is a Premium subscription feature. “If” not, then perhaps this experience can be regarded as YouTube’s deliberate way of allowing free users to try convenient playback functions such as picture-in-picture on a limited basis.
