Get 3 more hours of battery life on your phone! ? Android 15 introduces key power-saving technologies to help your phone last longer

In addition to power-saving modes that actively limit performance or background activities such as notifications, Google has also racked its brains to see how to squeeze more battery life out of the Android system. The key point is to let everyone play in the next step, includingAndroid 15 with new features such as “Private Space” and “Notification Cooling” , they really brought new improvements that can help you squeeze more battery life out of the existing mobile phone’s standby time (this is awesome!).

In an interview conducted by foreign media Android Authority with Dave Burke, Vice President of Android Platform Engineering, and Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem. They first mentioned that after the smart watch system Wear OS 5 was updated, the system can intelligently delay the execution of more background applications and wait until the watch is charging before processing it – that is, reducing the battery life burden on the watch at the time when it needs it most (just… when it is on your wrist).

Continuing a similar concept, Dave Burke, vice president of Android platform engineering, mentioned the smarter “dozing” improvements that Android 15 will bring.

「For Android 15, we’ve sped up the time to doze (doze is when we go into a quiesce state) by 50%. So we get into doze 50% faster, and the result is on some devices we tested up to 3 hours longer standby power. And that’s sort of a general improvement in 15 that applies to all devices.”(在 Android 15 上,我們將打盹時間(打盹是指我們進入平靜狀態)縮減了 50%。這樣,我們以 50% 更快的速度進入打盹狀態,結果會讓某些設備的待機電力延長 3 小時。這也算是 15 中適用於所有設備的一般性改良。)」

Everyone read that right, it’s just taking a nap – I really didn’t expect that sleeping well can also help the performance of the phone!

The so-called “doze” refers to the “Doze Mode” power-saving management mode that has been introduced since Android 6. After coming to the Android 15 system, Google can not only more intelligently manage the operation of the screen off state and enter “maintenance windows”, but also further enhance the sleep speed by 50%.

Don’t underestimate this change that makes it easier to sleep. According to the official statement in the interview, devices equipped with Android 15 system can even have the opportunity to increase the standby life of the phone by up to 3 hours.

It means that smart people should have seen various provisos, including “standby” and “highest”. The author’s guess is that usage habits tend to be in situations where the screen is switched on and off frequently – for example, people who often just open the screen to check notifications or simply read messages will benefit more from this enhancement to Doze Mode. As for how much battery life improvement it brings to ordinary people like you and me, do you think it will really extend battery life? We may have to wait until more subsequent actual tests to find out.
