Now it seems that Microsoft is also preparing to respond to Google’s tribute with a tribute (use a tribute to respond to a tribute). No chance to breathe! Microsoft Edge will follow Google’s flagship AI scenery function
Before the annual Google I/O developer conference, Google has gradually added convenience features to its own ecosystem, including the Chrome browser, through the power of Gemini AI.Various capabilities of generative AI, a comprehensive counterattack against Microsoft, which has been constantly putting pressure on Google – not only has functions to pay tribute and imitate, but also many functions that are beyond the current reach of Microsoft CopilotInnovative functions are born one after another。

But now it seems that in the face of this series of tributes, Microsoft seems to be preparing to respond in a similar way. At this stage, the following information has been found in the company’s latest Microsoft 365 blueprint:
「Microsoft Edge will include an AI theme generator, that allows users to input a text prompt and generate a series of images to preview as browser themes. Applying the theme includes setting the generated image on the Edge new tab page, and applying the image’s dominant color to the browser frame.(AI 翻譯:微軟 Edge 將包含一個 AI 主題產生器,允許使用者輸入文字提示並生成一系列圖像以預覽為瀏覽器主題。應用主題包括將生成的圖像設置為 Edge 新分頁頁面,並將圖像的主色調應用於瀏覽器框架。)」

Yes, I believe everyone must have thought of it at the first time. This seems to be very similar to the AI theme background generation function that Google initially installed on the Android system of Pixel 8 and later announced that it will be launched on the Chrome browser.
However, on this side of the Microsoft camp, in fact, AI-generated backgrounds have long been used as interesting applications for Teams video chat background images. Therefore, if there were any opinions on the tribute, I believe both parties should have spoken out long ago (oh, is that so).

At this stage, although Microsoft has only listed the blueprint, it does not give much detailed information or even new Edge-related interfaces. But it always feels like what many people will say when they read the tribute-related news, “That’s what the game is, just like running and swimming, it’s not like he does what you do.” It should also use the same interface and condition options as Chrome or the previous background generation function of Teams, right?
