CATCHPLAY+ celebrates its tenth anniversary and today (5/21) held the “2026 Ten Years New Vision” press conference to officially unveil the next stage of development blueprint. With the core strategy of “deeply cultivating film and television, flipping horizons, and global promotion”, the platform announced a number of content and technology upgrades at once: from Taiwan’s first-ever movies, American dramas, Chinese dramas, to new straight light and short drama types, creating an all-round audio-visual platform spanning “long dramas, channels, and short dramas.” At the same time, it also announced cooperation with the four major content companies in South Korea to launch a direct short drama project jointly produced by Taiwan and South Korea; in terms of platform expansion, it deepened cooperation with the two major system companies in Taiwan and Indonesian telecommunications partners, and entered the in-vehicle entertainment market of Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore for the first time.

CATCHPLAY+ marks a new chapter in ten years of success, announcing the launch of straight-style light short dramas and the launch of co-production between Taiwan and South Korea
Yang Lizhen, CEO of CATCHPLAY Group, said that after ten years of development, the platform has accumulated a solid foundation in content, technology and cross-border cooperation, which will become the driving force in the next ten years. She emphasized that “we hope to further transform from the familiar ‘content boutique’ to a public-facing ‘full film and television platform’ and enter the daily lives of more users.”

Straight-forward short drama launched, Taiwan and South Korea co-production project launched
CATCHPLAY+ officially launches a new direct-to-video drama experience today. As direct-viewing has become the mainstream of mobile entertainment, the platform has created a 9:16 full-screen mode in the mobile app, and added free trials and a dedicated operating interface for short dramas, allowing users to quickly enter the plot during commuting, resting and other odd moments.
The first wave of content focuses on Korean short dramas, and the platform announced cooperation with four major Korean content companies:
- Introducing straight Korean dramas with CJ ENM’s tvN and b.able.
- Exclusive cooperation with the emerging short film drama platform Sero. All content on Sero will be updated simultaneously on CATCHPLAY+ (Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore).

Highlights include a straight remake of “The Wedding Day” starring Park Bo Young, as well as dozens of Korean short dramas, which are updated every week and are all included in existing subscription plans at no additional cost; non-paying members can also watch selected free episodes in the “CATCHPLAY LITE” area.
In addition to introducing Korean content, CATCHPLAY+ also announced that it will jointly develop the “Intuitive Moments: Chinese Light Short Drama” series with SLL Joongang (the production company of “The World of the Couple”, “Itaewon Class” and “Black and White Chef”). The Taiwanese side is joined by Damu Films producer Lin Yuling and gold medal screenwriter Lu Shiyuan to create an Asian fantasy short drama co-produced by Taiwan and South Korea, exploring a new generation of video narrative through transnational collaboration.

Ten years of accumulation to build the foundation of a transnational film and television platform
After CATCHPLAY+ was launched in Taiwan in 2016, it expanded to Indonesia and Singapore in the same year, and has maintained in-depth cooperation with local partners for ten years. The platform has accumulated registered members of 60 million and has launched a number of representative Taiwanese dramas, including the “The Distance Between Us” series, “The Raising of a Fairy Girl 2”, “Novel of Murder”, “Sea of Intimacy”, and the first Indonesian original IP “Hotel of Evil”.

Starting from 2025, the platform will add the CATCHPLAY TV channel live broadcast service. Currently, it provides about 120 channels, covering domestic and foreign news channels and other diverse content. It also pioneered the AI multilingual elf service and continues to use technology to promote the Asian streaming industry. CATCHPLAY+ takes ten years as the starting point and officially moves towards the next ten years of all-round film and television platform.
